Leather Seat cleaning

Folks

I know having light leather seats can be a pain, but I prefer the lighter interior. I have had to clean my seats a few times as the blue from jeans does tend to colour them, but with proper leather cleaner this comes off OK, except for this part on the drivers seat:

Its been there from quite early in my ownership. Its too high up th seat to be from jeans/belt, and it wont shift. I have tried gentle rubbing and doing it a few times, quite hard rubbing, gentle with a scouring pad with leather cleaner, gentle with a nail brush - nothing, nada.

I've tried bith some leather cleaner I have for the car, and some we have for our suite.

I thought it was where the lumbar support was but there doesnt seem to be anything behind that spot. I've a feeling it might be from a blue waxed jacket I've got.

whatever it is - how do I get it clean - any good recommendations that isnt going to knacker the leather?

Cheers
Al

Told me years ago (at thier stand in the NEC motor show)..... stains on leather GENTLE actions only
No dairy liquid
Nothing mildly abrasive
No solvents

I had ball pen ink on my light coloured Volvo leather seats....they suggested lemon juice applied daily....using half a lemon left in the vehicle...gone after 4 days

More recently have used Gliptone leather repair (for a scrawlk mark) leather cleaner, & leather food.....brilliant products.
They are based in Todmorden.[/i]

Hi
It will never come clean unless you use dye repair. This stuff is fantastic

https://www.liquidleather.com/scuffmaster-...29141.html

Watch a YouTube vid on how to apply.

Really fine sandpaper ( it will not damage your leather) Small clean sponge make sure area is free from dirt and grime apply 3 coats and dry in between wit hair drier.//// Thumbs Up When you order you need to tell them your leather colour

If the cleaning products don't work and it looks like you're going to have to repair it properly you could always try using a 'magic eraser' that you can buy from most supermarkets. Obviously it's a mild abrasive so it will remove some material from the leather (possibly damage it) but I've actually done an entire interior with one before as it removes the sheen from older leather and gives a matt finish.

I bought some of these & they are as abrasive as I'd go...the magic erasers are very very subtle....also have many other uses.
The one thing about leather is when it's damaged - it's done

Meguairs have a new breed of products that include leather care....
I used some on a 40 year old leather suite...it has given stunning results.

Not that costly either....

If you've tried everything else and your no further forward, get some nail varnish wipes from Superdrug in the round pot, try running the pad under cold water to dilute most of the solvent as long as long as you don't go mad with it it, it should get rid of the colour transfer before you get down the sealer on the hide. Once its gone, put some liquid leather on it to seal and feed it.

Done it on my Sport and P38 with no problems.

I use dojo juice super natural on my light leather with a leather cleaning brush. it always gets it back to new looking from the grimiest of states. I get blue jean stain on the side of the seat base quite often and so far managed get it of with scrubbing and this stuff some times takes a few goes. and then i treat it all with Hide cream

@ DJ - just looked on asda site, are the magic erasers the Flash or the Minky ones?

I 'think' the ones I purchased were Minky but they are all made of the same material.

On my BMW cream seats you can see the dirt coming out just by gently using the eraser and some lube (I use Gliptones leather cleaner). You need to use a cleaning product as a lube even if its just soap and water.

How to make a "Magic Eraser"

The solution I tested and used comes from Heather Schisler's blog Passion for Savings, which requires two common cleaning solutions: borax and baking soda. And you only need a tiny bit of each.
Heat up some water. For a single sponge, 1/2 cup (118 milliliters) will be plenty.
Add 1 teaspoon (5 grams) of Borax and 1 tablespoon (15 grams) of baking soda to a bowl. Add the water to the mixture and stir.
Place a sponge in the bowl and allow it to soak up the solution.
Squeeze out some of the excess and begin scrubbing.
