yes, D5 SE is more similar to D4 XS spec, it's a far cry from my D4 SE.

It is expensive for paint but LRs colour palette is a bit drab and Namib Orange was the only colour that really stuck out.

Another little gripe, all the interior lights are LED but the puddle lights are horrible yellow halogen bulbs.

Overall the car is a joy, taking a bit of getting used to over D4, but I've no gripes with car as such just LRs penny pinching but then I suppose that's not exclusive to the D5.

Worth chucking in a few LED bulbs in the puddle lights? That'll show if they actually work with LEDs (like my D4's rear puddle lights) or not (like the D4's front ones). Standard 5w5 bulbs?

That is strange. The SE comes with heated seats standard but on my HSE order, heated seats were $1200 extra option.

Be interested to see the lineart image from the wing mirror light as the profile of the D4 is unmistakable but the D5 profile seems to have less uniqueness - wondering how they coped with it on the projected image.

Had a play around this morning, nothing major, just a wee taster. Tried out the low traction launch, obviously don't get the full effect as it was on tarmac.

Pics ain't great, taken with my mobile had to bin a few.

You can't do that, don't forget it's not a proper offroader, it does not follow the true landrover DNA. It's an SUV, with rubbish seats..

For anyone that's interested, my thoughts so far.

I'll start by saying I love it but it's not perfect

Steering wheel is a lot thinner than the D4 one which I didn't think would be the case as it's straight from the FFRR.

Interior fit and finish feel rock sold no squeaks, creaks or rattles. The one thing I'm not overly impressed with is the aluminium trim finisher, which is plastic and doesn't look like what's in the brochure, ok as a no cost option but not worth £125. Also the armrests are pointless, they are a bit low and just as well using the centre cubby which is at a fine height.

Loving the LED headlights, I thought xenons were good but these are on another level, give a nice crisp white light.

Incontrol system is good, easy to use and in good reach of the driver and so far problem free unlike the Incontrol Pro system, which IMO does too much stuff, messing about with SIM cards, not my thing.

SE spec doesn't benefit from the under cup holder or in fascia storage or a curry hook, which they make a big feature of, having to pay £1.50 delivery for my Lamb Korma and nan Laughing the 3rd row storage bins aren't that useful a lot less space than the D4.

Took me a little while to find a comfortable driving position but I put that down to only having the choice of forward or backwards on my D4 Laughing finally, I've mastered how to get in without banging my head on the A-Pillar.

Second row seating, I don't have any problems with it, it's lower but from the short periods I've sat in it, I don't find it uncomfortable but time will tell. Third row I haven't tried, it's not something I used on the D4 and don't expect I'll need it on the D5, though access doesn't look as good as the D4.

Tailgate, yes is huge and you have to be mindful when parking, the cat flap, I thought would be a pain but I'm getting along with it so far, sat on it a few times seems sturdy enough and I ain't the lightest person, not as big as the D4s but that's compromise. There is enough space in the boot for my needs but does seem smaller, also seems a bit higher. The buttons in the boot to raise/lower the rear is handy but with auto access height set I haven't really needed to use it.

Overall I'm enjoying it, taking a bit of getting used to but it is a comfortable place to be.

I ain't a reviewer so probably more ramblings than anything.

Good write up, thanks Thumbs Up

I've only had a couple of hands on experiences with the D5 and as yet haven't driven one, but I'd agree with most of what you've said. Although I haven't sen the £125 trim and I actually didn't mind the feel of the skinny steering wheel and I've got quite big hands.

The armrests were shocking. They appeared to be an afterthought, as if someone had forgotten to include them in the design. They pivot far too low down on the side of the seat. Strange, as it really would have been easy to get them right. Confused

One thought that I had, was could the flap be replaced with a deeper one? There appeared to be enough space for a deeper one to clear the inside of the tailgate when it's closed. Now I know the reason that LR didn't make it deeper, is so that you can reach into the boot space more easily than you could in the D4, but for me that's not a problem Whistle

If the flap was just say 3" deeper it would be far less of a compromise over the splendid D3/4 tailgate. Some enterprising character (RLD Question ) could make an aftermarket replacement perhaps.
