I'm not slating the D4, as you say it is awesome. Mr. Green

All I'm finding is there are bits that are not up to what my old D3 had.
IMO that shouldn't be the case in a newer model.

Would still rather be in my D4. Thumbs Up

Only gripe at the moment is that the D4 isn't as economical as my old D3 even when driven in the same manner, some 5mpg less at the moment.

I'm shocked! - Was your D3 quite a late model? I had a 05MY and there's no comparison... the D4 is massively more economical, even when a bit tight with just 3,000 miles on it?
Shocked

As per my signature, 2008 model. Was able to get 32 - 34mpg on a steady long run in the D3, struggling to get 28mpg when driven in the same manner on the same journey (Aberdeen to Worcester)

I'm hoping it will increase with age/mileage.

Ahh, that explains it... the mpg had improved quite a bit by 2008MY. The 2005MY's were almost anywhere from 5-10 mpg worse than that. My D4 is sipping like a diesel panda so it feels like a huge improvement...
Thumbs Up

LANDROVER MARKETING read this thread & note that even satsified (existing) customers aint satisfied:

what you mean is you are not satisfied.

A number of the things are not issues for most other people or a reason they choose the D4 and not a D3 (colour coded wheel arches, start button) or are things you can select when you buy (heated rear seats, cig lighter) or a dealer can change for you (folding mirrors, indicator count).

No car is going to ever be perfect and give 100% satisfaction to everyone. What you see as bad another person sees as good. LR have to cater for the majority. The D4 is selling very well. So, they must be doing something right.

My opinion was that the D3 was ugly both inside and out and I missed out and went elsewhere. I came back for a D4 as it was a vast improvement. Opinions differ Smile

This is what customising is about, to be able to make the vehicle how a individual prefers it. The more things that can be changed easily by the owner the better, like a house some things can be changed other things cannot, this is why Landrovers of the past have been so successful.
No matter how good the D3 is it has not got the superior 3.0l engine, that cannot be changed, but after reading this thread I cannot bring myself to part with £30K+ and my D3 to upgrade to a D4, especially as there is already talk of a D4.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
