Is there a light in the ash tray?

Ok, as per the title, is there a light in the ashtray?

I don't smoke but I do occasionally plug a phone charger in the cigarette lighter plug. I was driving home tonight in the dark and thought it all looked a bit dark in the ashtray area. Now I'm scratching my head if the little pictures on the ashtray, the cigarette lighter cover, or acsesery plug ever lit up.

If they don't fair enough, if they did, well why the hell don't mine. I can't recal if they ever did, there's not even any illumination around the cigarette lighter socket and I'd have though it would be useful if trying to replace a red hot plug in the dark..

Anyway if someone could pop out in the cold and have a look I'd be very grateful Thumbs Up

On my D3 they’re (ashtray, extra 12 V plug to the left, lighter to the right) all dark. The USB chargers I’ve connected do have bright blue leds, though....

It might be because Ive recently emptied the cup holders and that pocket of all the accumulated junk, mints, sweet wrappers and coins and now I'm not used to it.

That little light that shines downward from the interior mirror needs to be brighter I think. Ive a road trip to London Monday so the junk will start to build again and it'll all look normal Rolling with laughter

That little light that shines down from the mirror dosn't exist in a D4 Sad

It exists on my D4, it's ok to guide you for looking at the controls, but not enough to quickly find something in the dark while driving.

Plenty of little LEDs on mine, including one above the console area.

Mine's got the little LED by the mirror; think it was part of the interior light pack that came with HSE spec.

I'd wondered about only having one illuminated 12v socket, but if one was intended as a cigarette lighter but the delete-option was to fit a 12v blanking plug instead, then it makes sense that only would be illuminated. Don't think the ashtray (or the 'pointlessly small bin for parking tickets' which is how I use it) is illuminated though.

Double take! Mine has got it along with numerous other LEDs, but it comes from the interior lamp binicle not the RVM.
