Lithium batteries

Has anyone considered changing their AGM battery for a Lithium one??

For what reason? I would have thought the standard AGM is ideal for the price, and it’s use.

They would be more worthwhile as a house battery I would have thought?

I haven’t but somebody has. Not 100% applicable to UK vehicles as Australian spec doesn’t get the FBH https://www.facebook.com/DCS512/photos/a.1...;source=48

I'm working with AGM, Flooded Lead Acid and Lithium batteries in work. While we use Lithium for weight reduction, they're about 8 times more expensive to us than the equivalent AGM battery. In the real world, you're looking at around £1000 per battery for one that's suitable for automotive use.

On a more technical note, I don't believe there is an option in the Car Config settings to change it to Lithium so the balance of charge is maintained correctly.

My advice is to stick with the best quality battery you can afford that meets the original spec.

And if you have any kind of fire involving a lithium battery there’s no way you’re putting it out yourself.. even the Fire Brigades are struggling copying with lithium related fires in vehicles.. and that’s from Norfolk Fire Brigade!

I also don’t think lithium batteries like heat, so not ideal keeping it in the engine bay.

Mind you, having experienced snow in Aus in Feb this year I’d have thought a FBH would be useaful. Thumbs Up
