Any local help....Polzeath |
|
Made it to sunny Cornwall. The beast threw a few tantrums on the way here “make smoke” must have been signalled to the engine room as we managed to hide most of the A30 with Shells finest dinasour squeezings and with engine system fault coming up on the dash.
Recently had intercooler out to remove 5kg of Hampshire. All hoses look good. Now getting the following
P023D
P0101
And a whole slew of others which I think are old and never been cleared.
Before I fire the parts cannon at it, does anyone know of a local place/person who knows about the foibles of a disco 3 vintage 2008???
Cheers
Dave

Only at Polzeath Sunday and Port Issac yesterday!
Looks like you may need to clean your MAF sensor
If your OBD-II equipped vehicle has stored a code P023D, it means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a discrepancy in the correlating signals between the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and the turbocharger/supercharger boost sensor which has been designated "A". The "A" denotes a specific boost sensor in a system which may use multiple boost sensors in different locations. Consult a reliable vehicle information source to determine precisely which sensor the A references (for the vehicle in question). This code is applicable only to vehicles that are equipped with forced air induction devices Forced air induction devices include turbochargers and superchargers. The MAP sensor provides the PCM with a voltage signal that reflects air density or pressure in the intake manifold. The voltage signal is received (by the PCM) as either kilopascal (kPa) units or inches of mercury (Hg). In Some vehicle applications, MAP is substituted for barometric pressure and measured in similar increments. The turbocharger/supercharger boost pressure sensor (designated A) will likely be of a similar design to the MAP sensor. It monitors air density (boost pressure) inside the turbocharger/supercharger intake pipe and provides the PCM with an appropriate voltage signal.
Basically this P0101 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. The PCM detects that the actual MAF sensor frequency signal is not within a predetermined expected range of the calculated MAF value.

Check to see if one of the intercooler pies have come off the intercooler. Or the large pipe may have a split in it. Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks everyone. I’ll have a go at the MAP sensor and see if anything else is loose. The intercooler hoses are definitely on and tight. Took the two lower panels off but I guess the turbo to intercooler one might be split where I can’t see it. More proding and poking to do. I only bought half my garage toolkit with me but should be enough.
Cheers

When you hit problems away from home nice to be able to turn to you guys. Advice and local knowledge also offer a four post ramp. Nice in this day and age possible all know that never know when the roles are reversed. A bit of topic but think all deserve a pat on the back keep it up guys.
I hope you get it sorted.

Wow, thanks for all the amazing support and advice, the hive mind is an amazing thing, especially the offer of a 4 post lift from stew!
Had a few Tarquins at lunch (the gin not the locals). Dismantled and cleaned the map and removed the butterfly. Squirted two tins of wynns EGR cleaner through it, only lost one bolt and the beast lives !!!! Definitely running better over to Rock. Still think it needs new intercooler hoses, EGR delete and a severe kick up the electronics, but I’m hopeful it will make it back.. watch this space for more disco3 failures
