Locked out with engine running !!
I locked myself out of the car today !!. I opened the car, put the keys in the ignition and started the engine. Then closed the door and went to open the drive gates. when I got back to the car, the doors were locked and I'm stood out in the rain !!!.
After about ten mins of scratching my head I tried the boot. Which was unlocked !. Climbed in and opened doors.
Any ideas why, anyone had this before.Duncan

Now that woule be telling! Sorry to be soooooo slow but been out walking one of the mutts. The other got snipped yesterday!
Yep, happened to me on top of a very muddy hill at Yarwell. Was one of those moments. Door was half closed, engine running & me stuck outside wondering if it will run out of diesel before I get in!
WE & NSN was your door fully closed or just half closed?? I didn't want to push the door fully too as that might deadlock it. Turned out that was what it needed as one of the helpers tryed that after we tryed a few other things and were contemplating a bit of surgery (or Mrs L bringing the spare keys 165 miles). Fully closing the door opened up the lock and playing resumed. Immediately then switched off the "lock while drive" setting.
Had a good look at one in the stealer's showroom & looked like the lock button followed the handle back to the locking position (or i accidentally pushed it in but we didn't raise that as a possibility). Now very glad it was not just me!

My door was fully closed and the spare keys battery was flat !!
I thought there was some sort of key overide by removing the trim on the handle, but when I got it off - nothing !!
Owners manual was in the car so I couldnt check and since then I havnt had time to look.Duncan

My dealer was going to "leave it and see" but I phoned him to say that it is not just me doing something stupid and to kick it up to LR. Being trapped outside the car with the engine running is not something I want to repeat. Will also make sure I have my LRA number stored in the mobile as the card is of course inside!

it was carl / craig that opened it, he only pused it off the catch, he didn't close it all the way. the door only moved 3mm then he pulled it and it opened.I'm Powered by........Diesel

The second remote won't operate the locks if there's already a key in the ignition so the key probably isn't flatThe End

Thanks to Carl or Craig! It was a major moment of "thank gods for that!!" when I saw the door open! Must have just moved enough to trigger the lock to open.
Would the 2nd key have worked in the "mechanical" lock in the passanger door in these circumstances??
