on our cars at work inc the D3's we have a switch which if you hold it in when you turn the ignition off and take the key out the car keeps running but you can lock and unlock it normally. If you try to drive off without putting the key back in it will stall. It's so we can keep the lights etc. running when we're at a bump etc. I'm sure it can't be that expensive to do otherwise we wouldn't have it!
