Shame it wasn't going the other way otherwise I could have hitched a ride.... flying is the only way to do it ina weekend (and FAR cheaper than the train - £120 and 1.5 hours vs £185 and 9.5 hours )... I'm a great believer in saving the environment but logistically or financially it just doesn't make sense to go by train... I guess I could wait until HS2 is extended to Scotland ??? I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

I think a retreating glacier would get me back up quicker than HS2 I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

re HS2 ... I assumed bits of it were built and it was just the Northern end that was a farce, but travelling around near Northampton last couple of days I see it's very much in it's infancy !

@highlands, thanks for the offer but BA have changed the flight at no cost and I'm now heading down early Thursday morning so have all day to drive back (a much nicer trip)... if you want me to collect the jack the offer is still there (meet in Elgin maybe ?) otherwise I see you're heading down later on anyway...
