Yes. I’m also cynical and based in another country so it must be the water we drink....
Here the average age of is vehicle is so high that so far nobody has seriously entertained the idea of a pollution tax. They’ve thought about charges based on the distance driven aided by satellite tracking (I think this one got shot down as an idea due to privacy concerns)
Also, the city of Helsinki is systematically discouraging driving by limiting the amount of a. lanes for private vehicles into the city b. lanes in total into the city. That’s what we get for voting the Green Party and on Social Democratic Party.
Just had to sell a late 2014 van and purchase a new one to comply!!
Or pay the charge of course, but entering the zone up to 20 times a month made that a PITA.
Seems ridiculous to me for a van less than 5 years old.
Also, being a cynical old git, think it’s more down to the usual reasons, Politicians failing to balance the books rather than saving the planet as they would like us to believe
Know how you feel, we’ve an April 2015 one which we can’t justify replacing at the cost of 28k just yet, just need to be careful that we don’t send it in the zone unless we really have to, by the time the zone extends it will have been replaced.
Euro 6 version 28k to our spec, the electric version will be 61k with a range of 74miles.

It depends how often you enter ULEZ but for me driving to Putney about 20 times a year would cost £250
If I rushed out to change the D3 for a Euro6 model I'd be looking at spending at least £20k.
This means it would take 80 years to reach break even on the new motor so I won't be rushing to change for a while yet.Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.
Putney won’t be inside the Zone until they extend it in 2021.

Yes, that's when they extend the zone to within the North & South Circular.Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

Bath is going the same way. To be honest I have no issue with LEZs. My dilemma is still what do I replace the old bus with?New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)
No longer the Old Buses original owner
231,000 miles and counting
05 S manual owned from March 2005
D4 Face lifted
Still original injectors and turbo
V8 Front brakes
BAS Remap, Allisport Intercooler and deCat
EGRs blanked
T-Max split charge
Hanibal Expeedition rack
Prospeed ladder
Duratrac tyres
IID BT
BAS FBH control
Get a 40 year old Series 3 LR diesel , that's exempt.
And also very smokey!
However, total exemption from payments for horses, despite the polution deposits left on the highway. Would that be "driving a horse and cart through the regulations"?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I read somewhere that ships will be looked at in the near future as they are high polluters. Why is there never a mention about aircraft as they fly over the ULEZ in London or is there a height limit as to when it can be imposed? Out of interest my wife’s Nissan Figaro, all built in 1991, is not subject to the ULEZ as they have no emission figures submitted by Nissan. Suggest you all buy a Nissan Figaro.......

I presume no one has converted a D3 to electric yet.
This company are converting all sorts of classic cars to electric. They did a RangeRover Classic recently.
If/when I win the lottery one of the things I'm going to spend my life of leisure doing is fitting a 110 with a gas turbine/electric hybrid powertrain. I just love the thought of barreling down the outside lane of the motorway in a 110 sounding like a small jet on take-off!
