Well the exide EA1000 decided to spit it’s dummy out today by virtually going flat after just 4 x days from being disconnected from the CTEK
Just had enough Volts to get the D3 started , so had to get a battery quick so went to halfords , got the yuasa YBX5019 , the 020 was defently too big
Alas didn’t work out as I planned but there it is, exide lasted 3 x years
Also got a trade card, the battery was £145 plus £15 fitting , with discount came out at £120 so we’ll pleased , also comes with a 5 x year warrenty
Took a battery reading @5.35pm of both batteries

Update
So I fully charged both batteries , then disconnected the positive lead from the split charge system
Aux battery still has an Earth wire on it , just got to remove it and will be putting my tyre compressor in its place
These are the readings 5 x weeks later , disco hasn’t moved or been started in that time , so considerably better than the old exide battery
Think I’ll soon plug my CTEK back in to recharge the main yuasa YBX5019 battery when it gets to 12.6Vdc
Strange there both virtually the same , seeing the aux is a leisure battery , still never mind as it’s not relevant anymore as solar will later be fitted to the main battery
At the end of the day we’ll pleased in the difference

One year on are you happy with your Yuasa battery.
I've been experiencing some intermittent crank, but does not start issues (Happens randomly, approx 6 monthly, never been stuck but had some embarrassing moments in town (warm start) as it when it does happen it takes up to 6-10 crank attempts to start the vehicle.
I get some of the common faults (e.g. B1C57-14, B1B02-28, B1D12-15, U0155-87, U0132-87) which I clear with my GAP IID, which all clear except B1C57 which I believe everyone gets.
Anyway, the more I read on this forum, I think my battery may be munted. With Ignition on, but engine not running the battery sits at 11.7v. On starting the voltage jumps to 14.3, then after approx 10 minutes of driving drops back to 13.8v.
In New Zealand, the Yuasa NZ website recommends:

My current battery is a BOSCH SLX-1A 100AH, 910A. My D3 is a Jap import, the Bosch battery is covered in Japanese writing. It would not surprise me if it is the original battery, 16 years old (no date stamp however so no way of knowing). I've owned the D3 for almost 4 years.
My D3 is a petrol V6. Do you (or anyone else) think the Yuasa I've described above is the right one.
Note our winters are not as harsh as yours, my D3 is garaged, used for family holidays, and driven only approx fortnightly.
I am also looking to buy a CTEK MSX 10 so I can trickle charge and do ECU flashes (I want to have the dash clock and 3 flash indicators) but that's another story.

Hiya
indeed very happy with the yuasa , considerably better than the exide EA1000 , battery should be around 12.6 Vdc with the engine off , fitted the YBX5019 in mine
Also have a ctek charger where I can easily plug it in when not using the disco for 3-4 weeks , really pleased with that as well
Does it tell u in ur owners manual what battery should be fitted , have often fitted the largest battery possible on both petrol and diesel , ur dimensions are the same as mine
Know others have fitted the yuasa and also been very happy with it , personally bought it from a shop instead of online as if there’s any issues will be easier to resolve

Just to clarify, my voltages
Key on:
ACC position I = 12.0v
IGN on position II = 11.7v
Engine running = 14.3v, drops back to 13.8 after 10 minutes
There is a feeling of Autumn in the air now (been a great hot summer)
I'll talk to local Yuasa stockist in New Plymouth, I don't mind paying a little extra for higher AH.
CTEK definitely on the wishlist, need to sneak it past the wife.

If you do go for a CTEK MXS10, see if you can get a longer than 2 yr warranty with it ( I now know why this is unlikely ).The smaller CTEK chargers seem to have 5 yr warranties. I say this because my MXS10 has failed, I bought it a few years ago, in a group buy admittedly, but it has only top up charged a battery half a dozen times in its life, and never used as a power supply……in my opinion…..not good enough A few others have found the same with this particular charger. I have a smaller CTEK, which has been used far more, and is still working well, but obviously can’t be used as a power supply.D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

Plus certainly wouldn’t hurt if u fitted the diesel sized battery as it will at least give u that little bit more , as it’s 100AH and 900 CCA, think I paid around £120 Inc vat from halfords , currently lasts just under 4 x weeks when disco is not used
Alas at those voltages the battery is virtually dead , great tip ref the charger warranty from @DN,
Must admit last year I bought a renogy kit , consisting of a 100 watt solar panel , wiring , DC to DC charger , Bluetooth monitor which I’m hoping to fit at some stage which hopefully will keep both my batteries topped up
That’s simple ref the CTEK, buy one for ur beloved , I’m sure she will really appreciate it
Think they are around £135 here
Oh and forgot , have a look at the battery module u simply connect to ur battery , then use ur iPad/ iPhone via Bluetooth to monitor ur battery voltage , alas only has a range around 20 x feet but very handy is called a BM2 , or one of the 12Vdc plug in voltage readers
Where just coming into spring thk god as hate the dark evenings

Hi Gary, yep keeping well, apart from the threat from Sadiq Khan wanting me to subsidise tfl to the tune of £12.50 a day just to use my D3 looming. Hope you are well, and getting that D3 into shape. Good to hear all is well, apart from the charges , just what u don’t need along with the energy prices going up , worrying as well on what the prices of fuel will be at the pumps in the next few months
Alas haven’t been able to do any more at the moment , hopefully i will in the next few weeks , think it’s been nearly 3 x months off the road , will be so nice getting it back up and running , plus I really hope I’ve got rid of all the errors

Website for a shop in town (PBtech) which sells the CTEK MXS10 states a 60 month warranty (so 5 years)
So I'm going to get both for Wife's birthday next month, she's going to love them - Yeah Right!
Will go for the diesel rated Yuasa with higher cranking amps

Ordered the new battery today. Pick it up on Thurs. Got the Yuasa 860 CCA, 100 AH one at NZ$417 (approx £215). The CTek and monitor will have to wait until next month, spent too much on the Diso lately!
