Looking to buy... 2010 HSE or 2013 TDV6

Hey guys and gals,

So I'm looking to buy a disco 4 with a budget or about $70k. I can get a 2010 HSE or 2013 TDV6, AFAIK the 2013 has better gear box with the rotating gear selector ( arguable if that is better or not, does IMO look better though) newer engine I think, updated ICE and some chrome bits. Has anyone had both? Is the newer model worth loosing the bells and whistles of the HSE? (Sunroof, keyless entry, reverse cam, front sensors, rear air con, elec memory seats, cold pack etc)

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments. Smile

100 plus view but no replies Sad

Has no one owned both a 2010 and a 2013 disco 4? My main question is, how much better is the 8 speed box and new engine? Is there any other major improvements in the 13 that would sway me?

Thanks everyone.

Hi

Not totally sure what the overseas spec is on the 2013 HSE, but I can tell you for sure that the new 8 speed box is far superior and the car is quicker, smoother and a tad more fuel efficient.

I had a 2011 before my 2012 (same engine as 2013, i.e 255bhp)and that car although very good, was not as smooth as the latest model.

Does this help at all?

Yeah it does buddy, thanks. Is there much else different between our 2011 and 2012?

I like the rotary gear knob, some people don't but I think you get used to it!

Again, there are things I prefer which others don't, for example like the leather used on the seats.

I don't like the slow infotainment system, but apparently that is quicker on the newer models. Likewise the newer model should have got rid of the slight acceleration lag with the 8speed box. Mine has now had the latest software update which seems to be better.

My old 2011 car was an XS model and I would always now buy the HSE not only for an enhanced spec but also for better residuals.

Regards

Paul

In March I tested an 8 speed D4 and 6 speed RRS. 8 speed was much smoother. I bought an MY13 SE because I wanted leather and a bit more grunt for towing. Ok, it's got a few goodies like nav, rear camera etc which make the cockpit a nice place to be. I bet that hasn't helped you? Good luck

Hi Crimdog81, the strongest argument for me in favour of the MY13 is that (apart from the 8-speed gearbox) most of the glitches found on earlier models have now been solved, for example infotainment, hesitation to accelerate from stop, problem with a few exhaust pipes are just a few that pop in mind. Of course, country specs defer, but I would definitely get the most recent model. Hope this helps.
