Loosing the love for my D3 here!

Well, had my D3 a month now, I had the track rod ends replaced yesterday as the were a little warn. Got to work this morning, just as I park up, I get battery light come on, loss of PAS and a squeak - took a quick look, and to my supprise, I find the water pump not where it should be! I'm loosing the love!

Yeah, know where your coming from, still been cheaper to run than my last car... Had a £6k engine rebuild that lasted 1000 miles, as the turbo failed dropping part of the bearing into the sump and trashing the engine. Which resulted in another rebuild!

But the D3 will off to my local indie tomorrow! But apparently L/R have dropped the prices of water pumps as there known to fail!

He-ho

Very Happy

Water pumps aren't a real problem ...only a few examples on the site over the years ..strangely most of those failed after the 105k service Confused

It's abit discouraging but they are pretty minor. Water pump about £17 plus fitting which doesn't take long apparently and track rod ends 1 hours work and about £30 each if I remember right. Deffinately an inconvenience but plenty more expensive items to fail yet Thumbs Up

Thought I'd give a quick update on this, looking at the pump, the two right hand bolts have sheared off! I'll find out tomorrow what the real damages is - at least it's a proper mechanical failure!!

Ditto to losing the love.......sort of?
We have had ours since January and to be honest I love the driving experience but I am getting fed up with the "I think there is something wrong with my car" line from the mrs.
Since owning we had the front arms and arb changed, they should have been done pre sale but we got a "freebie". The epb started squeaking, adjustment needed but again a freebie and to compound it we we got some Censored Key it recently and need a chips away type guy at some stage.
Love it and don,t if you know what I mean but I think maybe the first family holiday or 1 year ownership might change the feeling. My overall view though is that we have purchased occupant safety due to it's size etc and you can't put a price on that!!
