LOW COOLANT LEVEL

So noticed this error come up yesterday, checked coolant in expansion tank and it's fine.

Some googling and it appears a common fault with either sensor or some float thing inside the tank that saturates and sinks.

Watched a video on how to do it and seems ok if you have the right tools - which I do not! (also I think
it could cause me to have a nervous breakdown right now)

Quoted at local LR parts dealer in High Wycombe.

£55 inc VAT BritPart one - this price dropped to £22.50 when I pretended I was in the trade! Rolling with laughter
£72 + VAT Genuine Land Rover one - would not drop price but had two in stock.

Advice I'm seeking from you awesome landy experts;

1) Will the Britpart one be ok? - or should I stick with genuine LR? - i've just spent 5.5k fixing this car so will be keeping it well forever!
2) Can I drive it? - If garage can't fit me in tomorrow I need to go on a long drive Friday. I've heard the little float thingy could potentially clog up the coolant hose where it exits the tank! Sad

Cheers!

I would imagine the britpart sensor will just be the same unit (OEM) without a LR stamp, should be ok if not it will have a warranty by the garage fitting it Thumbs Up

Why not ask one of the Land Rover dealers (sponsors) on here for a price to supply the part.
I bought one at the start of the year and had it delivered including a new cap for less that you have been quoted.
Also you don't really need any specialist tools to change the bottle over.
There is a good write up on here that helps.

I drove mine for a long time before I replaced the coolant tank, it's only an expansion tank, not a major part of the circuit. Oh, and I got a genuine one FWIW.

FIXED

There was a crack in the coolant tank (or the sensor was jammed) it was replaced and all good just closing this off.
