Low Coolant Warning Light

A couple of weeks back the amber low coolant light came on when I was accelerating fairly hard up a slight incline. It went out a few km. later and there was no indication of overheating. Coolant level checked out OK.

This has now happened at decreasing intervals, the light staying on for about 1 minute each time. The coolant level in the bottle stays OK and the temp gauge does not show signs of overheating.

I can't find a sensor on the coolant bottle so I guess it is hidden somewhere on the radiator - I hope there is not an airlock that is triggering it! Can anyone tell me where it is located? (Probably not much use calling the new Adelaide dealer as he probably knows as little about the D3 as I do Shocked )

Thanks,
Tony.

see your dealer; known issue. Float in the header tank becomes porous and sinks.

Thanks Caver - that was fast service Exclamation

I've just found the connector hidden below the tank so that answers where the sensor is located. I'll just put up with it until the next service - by then the new dealer may have seen a few D3s....

I have the same problem from time to time.
The solution is easy. Just open the cap to take some air inside.
Much of the fluid is stuck on top of the compartment,
showing low level. better unsrew a bit the small cap on top for ventilation.
