Low washer fluid - clever?
The 'Low washer fluid' message has been coming up in my D3 recently. What I have noticed is that warning seems to be displayed just before I reach the exit for a motorway filling station. Is the warning somehow connected into the sat nav system (which I have turned off). That would seem very clever to me
Well, except that that is what happens when I am driving to work. On the way home the bong comes just after I have passed the exit - which isn't quite so bright!

Ah ha, good thinking. That might be the (more likely) answer. Certainly one of the boings comes (regularly) just before I reach the top of the Irschenberg, the biggest hill on my daily drive, east to west (but not on the steepest part of the hill). However, it usually boings just after the Irschenberg exit on my return trip, and the hill is just as steep coming up from the west side. Maybe the washer fluid is splashing around.

Stu you are just so clever HSE TDV6 Silver : "Avin it large"
I'm clever in the afternoons too - but the drink masks it
And you'd probably come up with a way to drive "around" the big W -
That'll sort out who reads 'em all!!!"Funny, mine doesn't do that......."

Do all models give a bong for low washer fluid?
I found my reservoir empty & won't hold any fluid. The seam has split & dealer has a new one on order....but I never get any bong or lights. Hope now my bongers are okay .I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Thanks for that link DS. This sounds like it:
Cause: A manufacturer process error has resulted in a weak seam joint at the base of the washer reservoir.
Tried to use the windscreen washer one day and nothing came out...so as filling it back up, thought man how big is this reservoir, then realised it was all draining right back out onto the ground .
Never occurred to me warning indicators should have gone off.I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Actually, it's the other way round. In winter most of the Dutch seem to move here! Now, though, the boing is coming sometimes on the flat too.
Being an eternal optimist, I bought anti-freeze today, despite having just found my local ski area closed because of lack of snow. At least we are promised that the winter should arrive on Tuesday.
Hi espri,
What year?
Cheers David.Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.

This one - yippee
Winter came today. I know, because I sat for an hour in a traffic jam on the Irschenberg.
As you can see, though, there wasn't really enough snow on the road to stop the traffic. I did come across an accident about 10 kms further on, so maybe that's what caused the tailback.
Though there isn't much snow here yet, more falls are forecast for the rest of the week - so I am hopeful I might be enjoying my own falls on the ski-slopes again next weekend!
Coming back to the washer fluid, my feeling now is that the boing happens most often after climbing reasonably long hills (though occasionally on the flat too, which I can't explain). That might be clever enough, for it obviously wouldn't be sensible to warn on every difference in the level, for that might be cause by braking or other temporary changes.
I'll have to leave it at that, for I've topped up the reservoir now.
