No D4's are lower tax. [edit: except the very late ones with AdBlue]
Cars registered before 23 March 2006 have the lower tax rate.
Easy to check at gov.uk to find out if you have the reg. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Yebbut you have to go slow on the roads don't you?!
50mph limit max any road within 65 miles of me!
Obviously the reason I know this is because I have to drive my Transit 1hr 20mins before I ever go above 50. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

I think a van derived from a car has the same speed limits as a car.

Car derived vans are:
- designed to weigh no more than 2 tonnes when loaded fully.

I have to drive as far as Perth (130 miles) before I can legally do 70! Seems mad as the rationale behind limiting the speed of commercials is that “they will weigh more than the equivalent car version” even though they are lighter to start with as the don’t have all that excess weight in the back (seats, people etc) and mine only ever has me and the cats in it (and a bag of work related PPE being a works van ), so far less than most people lug around but hey ho.. I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Hi,
I know it is a consideration but if your looking at a D3 or early D4 I would still be looking more at condition and recent maintenance than ruling out anything from end of March 2006 because it will cost another £350/year its very easy to spend that amount on repairs
a 2006-2009 might not cost much more than a 2005 but it will always be a few years newer
A D4 2010ish will be 5 years newer and a 3.0
buy the best you can for your budget and count the Possibly higher tax in that budget Transit! 2019

Yep, see my post above.
The AdBlue EU6 ones are the same band as the Pre2006 vehicles. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.
