LR convoy on the Irschenberg |
|
As I drove to work this morning over the Irschenberg on the Salzburg-Munich autobahn, I overtook a small group of LRs, all with snorkels and other expedition gear, and with trailers. No D3s, but a couple of D2s and a Defender.
The latter had the web address www.driveafrica.org.uk on the side. Looking at the web site, I found that it is a report on an expedition in 2004/5 through Africa by four guys from Bristol - very interesting, I thought. And if the Defender is the vehicle described there, it is supposed to have seats from 2004 D3 - so worth a mention here They didn't say whether the seats made the trip more comfortable!

Hi Eric, I was searching for any trace of our website (which has been deleted!!) when I found your post from earlier in the year.
Just thought I’d let you know (if you still read this) that the D3 seats were awesome, we removed the original 2nd row of seats from the D2 and fitted 4 D3 front seats (after removing the airbags!!) donated by JCI (the people who made the seats) as I used to work for them. They definitely made a few thousand of those miles easier.
Anyway thanks for mentioning you saw it its nice to know its still running.
Many thanks
Lawrence

Hi Lawrence
Are you able to provide contact detail for JCI?
It's just that as my D3 [with over 92k miles on clock] is about to come out of warranty, I may need to look at getting my drivers seat re-done over the next year or so.
Pointless paying LR if I can go straight to the manufacturer.

Hallo Lawrence,
something of a surprise to find a reply to this thread after all these months - but interesting to hear more of the details.
Thanks,
Eric
