LR Ipod Unit

Got round to fitting this, this morning. Very straight forward apart from finding room for the new loom behind the headunit Evil or Very Mad Much swearing and tugging and pushing and twisting. I gave in and removed the SatNav unit and presto-hey, fitted in first time.

Only change I made from the LR instructions was the location of the switch/phono/usb connectors. My upper glovebox is full of DVD player, so fitted it on the drivers side down by my left knee. Not hidden away, but I think it looks okay.

Initial Impressions....very, very good!! Just need to get a proper Ipod now.

If you add the steering controls, then yes, I know someone who's fitted it and it works fine.

Yes I too can confirm that it works with the base audio - pretty much removes the need for a 6-CD changer actually Thumbs Up

As stated above you will need to use alintons excellent tip and fit the steering wheel audio controls.
Only strange side-effect after fitting the ipod kit is that the forward-track >> steering wheel button now only works with the ipod not the radio or CD as it used to.

Not such an issue as won't be using the CD anymore and can use the back track << button to scan the radio stations. Don't forget that holding down the mode key on the steering wheel selects AUX for you........

kev, I'd check your wiring behind the headunit where the new loom connects in - as this shouldn't have happened.

Yes will do - when time permits. I will first disconnect the IPod loom entirely from the head unit and if all the buttons on the steering wheel then work as they did before will check for loose connections on the IPOD install / loom and live with it if none are found.

The centre console needs to come out anyway so I can fix the ashtray spring that I lost when trying to remove it(did'nt know then that you needed to remove the centre console to get the cigerette lighter/ashtray assembly out). Embarassed Only reason I was taking this out in the first place was to retrieve a screw that I dropped into the void where the stereo/aircon controls sit......never did find it. Evil or Very Mad 2 days later it turned up under the rubber mat in the footwell when I was hoovering.... Big Cry
