LR3 upgraded to resemble LR4! Good or bad?

Hi there,

I'm a first time LR buyer and have been looking at hundreds of D3's online. I came across this one which has had an upgrade to change the front end to look like a D4. It has also had a new engine at 74k miles.

Any thoughts and comments would be much appreciated. I don't want to start my LR career with a dud.

Thank you.

Yes you will be needing tools with a LR

Its very tidy, good spec, good colours.

Not unusual for engine replacement.

Seams expensive to me, so wouldn't pay asking price.

Only worry would be 144K on the gearbox. Make sure you have money in the bank for a replacement

I missed the new engine bit. Embarassed I also like it. Agreed re gearbox. Someone's put a lot of effort into making it look that good though. Thumbs Up

How much are we talking for a new gearbox?

Do I need to raid both daughters piggy bank or just one of them?

That seems dear to me for a 12 year old car, cant be far off the cheaper end of the D4 market?

It is very nice! Slightly out of my budget range though. Shame.

England 2014 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux Auto Corris GreyDiscovery 4

It hasn't had a new engine, it has had a replacement engine fitted that has done 74k miles with unknown history, service or otherwise, may even be an ex Jag engine, nothing wrong with that of course providing it has been serviced and fitted professionally, this is a very grey area with tdv6 engines, a new front end could indicate it's been in a front end shunt Shocked
I may have one for sale shortly that has not been "messed with" and has done 2/3 the miles of that one, with 80k of them serviced at a main agent and has far more D4 goodies including heated D4 steering wheel with paddle shift, service and maintenance are the main priority with Discovery's.

Bet the seats don't look like this Question

Or the dash like this Whistle

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It's got rear d4 lights too.

How did you get the auto lights icon on the dash ?

Looks ok. Would lose the chrome mirror covers and something looks wrong with the front grill. Isnt sitting right. Might just be unclipped or could indicate something worse behind it. But as others have said pricey for what it is. Radio button and steering wheel have had a hard life too.
