LR3 V8 HSE - the mods are finished!

Thanks to lots of advice from the Forum I have finally finished the mods to my 2005 MY LR3 for long distance desert expedition work. Much of the kit has been personally imported into Oman from South Africa (Front Runner, 'Escape' seat covers, Outdoors warehouse, 4x4 Megaworld), Australia (ARB, Kaymar, LongRanger, TraxTronics), UK (Mantec, Land Rover) and very little from local suppliers, cos they just dont have it or the quality is shocking.
Pix in my gallery (LR3 complet) and I'm right chuffed with the final result.
Car is now kitted as follows:
ARB Deluxe front winch bumper
2 x Bumper mounted IPF 900XS Driving lamps
Warn M8000 winch.
Kaymar Rear bumper with dual swingaway spare wheel mounts.
Kaymar Telescopic camp/work lamp fitted behind swingaway wheel carrier
Front Runner slimline windcheetah rack and roof mounts with transit bags, side awning, Wolfpack storage boxes, jerry can mounts, Hi-Lift jack mount, spade mount and spare wheel carrier mount.
4 x IPF 800XS rack mounted lamps (2 x spot, 2 x driving)
6 x IPF rack mounted camp/reversing lights (2 per side, plus 1 pair to rear for reversing lights)
Mud UK switch binnacle, switches and wiring connectors
ARB roll-out side awning (yet to be fitted to the rack.)
LongRanger 115 litre auxiliary fuel tank (in underfloor spare wheel bay)
Mantec sump guard.
LR snorkel, load space guard, trailer electrics and demountable tow hitch.
Escape canvas seat covers
TraxTronics SC40 split-charge relay supplying Optima bluetop auxiliary battery
TraxTronics auxiliary power sockets kit for running heavy load items (e.g. fridge from auxiliarty battery)
ARB on-board compressor, air-line and Steyn rapid tyre deflators.

Now I can relax, and so can SWMBO, and use the car for even more adventurous exploits. ('Mr. Green')

Yup, its the directly imported from Taiwan version of the Draper tools jobbie. Have put some pix in my gallery, and have since tried it in the desert where it was fine, although not since the heavier kit was fitted...................
Hmmmmm, I feel another airjack trial coming on. 'Confused'

How do you get on with the legality of the rear lights? They seem to be almost totally obscured by the 2 spare wheels.

Absolutely outstanding preparation, well done Bow down

Makes me wish I had somewhere to go in a D3, so I could justify doing the same.

Enjoy Thumbs Up

Lights - The Kaymar rear bumper has LED stop/tail and indicators integral. They are actually very bright and effective even in the sun out here, and particualrly good at night. You're right - the standard light clusters are virtually totally obscured by the paired spare wheels - about the only thing I regret, as I really thought the LR3's standard rear-end was very tasty!! The LEDs were designed to meet Australian Road Regulations and Kaymar told me they were developed with LR Australia to ensure they don't interfere the car's electronic wizardry. Certainly the Royal Oman Police haven't stopped me or even given any hint that they're not happy.........and I pass their road patrols morning, noon and night! One other thing that's a little unpredictable is the rear parking sensors. I think there may be a certain amount of adjustment necessary as they go into continuous sound for most of the time you use reverse now. I may have to bring them a little further to the rear so that any spurious echo they are getting from the steel of the bumper is eliminated.

Thanks for the comments guys - believe me, this is one LR3 that isn't a Chelsea tractor - she gets down and dirty on a regular basis, although maybe not layered with a thick coat of cold mud too much! 'Mr. Green'

But, don't you think that the warn8000 winch is not enough to pull your LR3 when it's stuck? specially with the added toys and weight.

You're right of course. I'd rather have had an M15000 but couldn't source one. So will have to put up with doubling the line with a snatch block on each recovery - and there are bound to be some! 'Whistle'

Question Bridgestone are telling me that they don't make a tyre of this size Shocked . I've checked the Bridgestone website in the UK and Middle East and no 19"s SUV tyres are listed.

Are you sure that you have bridgestone's on and not the new Pireli Scorpion ATR?

BTW, excellent mods and must ask what is the GVM (Gross vehicle mass) of the vehicle now? Shocked

Cheers
