LR4 4.0 V6 U2023

Hi guys,

I didn’t drove my disco 4 for 2 weeks. Battery died after starting attempt.

Took battery out, charged, and back in after a day.

Now, when I drive it jumps to gear fault. Code U2023-86.
Only 3 gear available.
Thought it needed a tranny oil and filter change. So done that. Without improvements.

The IId tool also refers to transmission. Control module network signal calibration data. Bus signal. Message failure

So I started crying when called the garage and the tells me need to change zf megatronic in the tranny worth of 1500€.

My feelings saying it got to be something with battery. Do I need to change it? Even if I have charged? Do I need to perform any steps to change battery? Resetting or programming gearbox?

Thank you for all your inputs.
Sam.

"u" codes are generally information codes. Assuming you did not have the fault prior to parking it for a couple of weeks you could disconnect the battery and then touch cable ends together for say 30 secs (possibly need a screwdriver to reach across the cables) this would do a complete reset and may fix your problem. It is possible that the battery needs replacing - check its voltage.
