Had my complementary half day adventure yesterday at eastnor
Great fun albeit a bit basic. We skipped the road section and went straight onto the off road tracks. Apart from one reasonable descent it all seemed a bit unchallenging for the D3. I would like to have seen something a little more enduring to see the cars limits. Was I expecting too much ??
I was hoping for a little more insight in how the Terrain Response works and how best to use it (BTW has anyine got any documentation which explains how the Diffs locks, TC, DSC, gearbox, power delivery etc work/interact in each mode ?)
However, it was a successful time for LR as I booked myself and my wife on the full day adventure which cost £500
I hope this is more challenging as its going to cost me fortune to get through to the advanced course etc.
Can anyone advise on how best to approach the one day to get the most out of it. Duncan

Vert Strange, but it depends on what you were expecting. Certainly the one I was on [Skipton - 18 months ago], challenged the vehicle in all areas. It even got stuck and had to be winched out by a 110 [i wasn't driving at that point]. Maybe they've dumbed this course down with the hope of selling the other courses??
Or it could just be different standards at different venues I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Thanks ronp,
I didnt have the experience of getting stuck
The diff locks came on a few times but generally speaking it trundled around with ease.
You could say that proves the D3 is unstoppable , but I just felt a little more challenging a run would have let capabilities of the D3 shine through.
Still, a good intro if youve never been offroad before. My wife loved it, and Martin the instructor was very helpful, i actually understood what he was talking about:D Duncan

Ronp, I hope you're wrong as I have booked Eastnor rather that Skipton as I was told it was better!
Wonder if I can re-book? Back in the game!

Not saying Skipton is better than Eastnor Disco D, it's just that I felt I had a damn good half day out and the experience for me certainly wasn't disappointing.
In fact, I'd reckon that as Eastnor is home to LR that this should in theory be the best venue in the country, but don't let me influence you either way...it's just my usual piffle paffle! I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Yeah I thought it should be the better venue. Well I'll wait and find out then. Not going until 4th March anyway. Back in the game!

I had the LRE L1 DVD and was equally dissapointed. I learnt far more from a couple of hours in the back of AndrewS's D3 (Ooo-err!) on the Rope collection meet that I will ever learn from the L1 DVD. Don't know if the L2 DVD is any better.
The only thing that MAY be of use, was the way it told you which ratio and gear to be in for each terrain. Although on another thread, there's some discussion about LRE's using Drive for pretty much everything.....
If anyone wants to borrow the L1DVD for 20 minutes of intensley poor information, but plainly 'brochured' descriptives about the settings, then let me know.......
First time I've ever got anyone else to pay so much for a sales brochure that's for sure...... Bodsys Brake Bible

Yes, they did suggest I just kept it in "D". Kind of took away some of the driving experience. Having said that, they were right. the gearbox etc seemed to get it right 99% of the time. But how it would fair when pushed to the limit i dont know, Im sure some on this sight have firm views based on scary experiences Duncan

Most of the L1 DVD is on this web site for streaming. Select the Go Beyond TV section and then then select the Land Rover channel. There are a few shorts all starting with "esential off-road driving..."
They are pretty much the L1 DVD bits edited down. D3 HSE V8...
