2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Java BlackDiscovery 3

Spoke to the dealer - he confirmed what you all said. The LR Finance system can't cope with Options so, if you hand back the car at the end of the PCP, you're given no value for them. If you trade in against a new car, then you shoudl get a higher trade in value as the dealer will give some value for the options (but i bet it won't be the same percentage as the car). Moral of the story - don't add options unless you are willing to forego potentially any value for them come sale time.....

Though a nice 66 reg Indus silver Landmarks caught my eye at another branch, my dealers network only has 3 2 blacks (16) and 1 silver (66)

My experiences come trade in time have always been the same.

Sorry Guv what your trading just isn't what we're after, but that one we're selling really is the Nuts Whistle

Regarding PCP's I've always thought the GFV should be negotiable downwards. So when it comes to judgement day you've got a decent bit of equity in the car. Seems to be a win win situation to me, as you're more likely to trade up and if you do decide to call it a day and hand it back, there should be some extra profit for the dealer.

As long as you pass the credit check for the higher monthly payment I can't see what the problem is.

Or is this already available?

My old bus is a poverty spec S. I chose it because I didn't want leather or an autobox and thought that paying extra for a spec with Sat Nav and 4x4 screen was daft. I also had family in the trade who said keep it simple because extras add nothing, although they can make it sell faster.

My poverty spec S had Xenons, heated seats all round, cruise control and and upgraded stereo i.e. all the things I wanted. It really was GVFM. Thumbs Up

Relatively easy to do provided you are sure you want to keep the vehicle at the end - just increase the milage over the contract term. Alternatively you can always pay a chunk off

Options only really offer desirability and are generally written to Zero

Look at the Mercedes model they have created packs Premium , Premium Plus . Land Rover offer "Design pack" Black pack , these "Packs" allow for a CAP id this in turn allows for a RV to be produced (Well that's how it works in the Fleet world) Thumbs Up

I buy all options I think I will enjoy, that why I buy a Landrover.

If I was worried about losing money I wouldn't own a car.

Besides it saves ruining the car/warranty/resale trying to fit "modifications" later on. Very Happy

Wife used to have a car through the Crown Car scheme (government leasing). She could spec what she wanted, but any extras on the standard model had to be paid for in full over the life of the contract.

My second-hand MY10 HSE came with loads of extras that, if I was speccing from new, I wouldn't have added - but now find can't live without.

Be careful what you add on as extras, as you'll very quickly see these as standard and want them on subsequent vehicles.

Dealer says Finance rates are completely non negotiable as they come from LR. I thought some people were able to get deals. Anyone have a view?

In my experience telling them your leaving to look elsewhere usually brings the APR down. Unless of course, they are offering a manufacturers deal that is already very low.

I once looked to buy a £33k used Discovery from a car supermarket who offered me a finance rate of 18.9% Shocked From memory that Discovery would have ended costing me nearly £42k and that was with a £10k deposit.

Pentland Edinburgh sold me my D4 for £29k on a finance rate of 2%. When I called them to sort the finance, the girl said "That's very low." but went ahead anyway.

Taggarts in Glasgow were also trying to sell me a similar D4 (same salesman that dealt with wife's Evoque) but said that he couldn't compete with the Pentland rate and had lost quite a few sales as a result.

I was able to finance the D4 for about the same as I was paying for my FL2, so one very happy driver.

You don't have to take LR finance, you can find your own, may get a better deal. I think at the moment on the D5 the interest rate is 6.9% with LR.

If you've got a bit of equity in your house, you could get a three-year mortgage deal for the car at a very low rate of interest.
