Managed to talk SWMBO into a D3........ |
|
Thats right all, I've managed to talk the wife into a D3!!!
It will probably be a couple of months as I need to sell my current Ford Galaxy.
I've wanted a D3 for soooo long. I've wanted the permagrin that you all talk about.
Can you just help me out.....
I will have a budget of approx £15k. What would you expect me to get for that kind of wonga??
I'd love with Black Leather, heated seats and defo an Auto. I like alot of exterior colours, Black, White , Stornoway..... It must have 7 seats too.
Am I being realistic?
Thanks for your time and replies...
Colin

With 15k Budget, I can see you soon becoming an owner of a Great Spec D3.....Just ensure you get it checked professionally as they are very complicated machines, and the outlay of a Pro check/HPI will stop any near future probs.
Good luck with your quest

Great choice! And as Mac says, you should find a good one for your budget. Bide your time, and don't pay cash. HPI won't cover you if you do ... as someone on here has discovered to their cost ____

Nice one. When we went to look at them at the dealer to just enquire, it was my Mrs who sat in one, turned to me and told me to get rid of my heap of .... Defender and get one of these as I deserved it. All the encouragement that I needed, and to be fair she absolutely hated my Defender.
Best car I have ever bought, done just over 11,000 miles since I picked it up in May and have loved every mile I have done!
cheers and enjoy Alex

I have seen the problem Will Hay has had..... I've followed his story and been gutted for him. I'm so glad to see he is finally in a D3 and a beautiful looking one too.
When you say 'Don't pay cash' HPI wont cover you......How do you mean?
Does that mean stay away from 'private' sales?
Sorry if i'm being a bit dim here

Bankers Draft will cover you. Cash in the terms of hard earned now has a tainted flair nowadays. I purchased mine from a LR dealer for cash, but had to be low amounts over a series of days/weeks. Something to do with Money Laundering, so if you decide to pay cash then it certainly will warrent explanation if things went sour.
TBH, you need to do look into finding a D3/getting it checked over/and paying for it. If its a Private Sale you need to protect yourself as much as possible, Bankers Draft ONLY and ensure the V5 is the same as the address you are at, and insist on viewing the header of a council tax statement. Most genuine sellers won't mind you checking.
Saw a programme not long ago, where HIGH end cars were either hired and sold, or stolen/ringed and sold, all from a vacant house that was for sale and they got the keys. Seems elaborate, but remember its 15k in their pocket...
Please Please be careful, its happened here before and none of us want to see it happen again.
Why not post a "WANTED" in the forum, post your requirements in spec/Mileage, you never know!!

Personally, I would buy from a reputable garage, that way you will have a warranty and some fraud protection. I bought mine from a local garage and got a great deal and an excellent low mileage vehicle and of course the permagrin.

Hi beerok,
I meant, "HPI will not cover you against a risk of a cloned vehicle if you pay cash for your car". It's in their terms and conditions. So, private or trade, auction or whatever else, if you want HPI to cover you for this then don't pay cash...
Their words: "The HPI Guarantee will not cover you for "cloned" vehicles (a "cloned" vehicle being a vehicle that has been stolen and given a false identity, normally that of an identical vehicle), where the purchase price of the vehicle was greater than £3000 and the purchase of the vehicle was made with cash. (The other terms of your guarantee are not affected.) We recommend that all vehicles are paid for via the banking system, such as, cheque or Bankers draft."
