Disco 1, Ambulance 0

Unfortunately the D3 is a little bent, but the Mondeo Ambulance that hit it came off an awful lot worse.

I was almost at a standstill and had just started to turn right into a side road when the Ambulance decided to overtake the cars that had slowed down behind me because he “Didn’t notice you were turning”. He then said “it’s obvious you were though as you were in the middle of the road”.
I think he was just trying hard to get where he was going.

I didn’t see or hear him until I caught a flash in my mirror a split second before he hit me.
Really annoyingly at least 6 vehicles were at the scene, but nobody stopped to be a witness.

He called his control centre and another Ambulance turned up very quickly with 4, yes 4, of his colleagues, very closely followed by two police cars with two officers each.

It was a little intimidating as he was obviously at fault, yet all the various High Viz jacketed people were talking to each other and huddling in groups around the paramedic and didn’t really want to talk to me apart from taking my details.

Had my first ever breathalyser test, which was fun.

Anyway, the pictures show how strong the D3 is compared to the Mondeo.

wow, barely a scratch - hope it all gets sorted without too much pain.

Sounds like a massive overkill on the backup response

Priviledge insurance have been great so far.

I've already had a call from the hire car company who will apparently loan me a 'like for like' vehicle.

The garage haven't called, but as they are 200 yards from where I work I told the hire company I'll call them Monday after I've dropped the car off.

I'm not sure what's underneath the damage, but from the outside it looks like a new rear bumper, light cluster, and pushing out the dent in the wing would cover it.

The Mondeo really was a mess.

My only concern, is that if I get a nice new D4 for a few days I really won't want to give it back.

I had also just picked up from the post office the Nanocom Evo I brought from Cellerdweller.
I was on the back seat still wrapped up, so I won't have a chance to use it for a while.

I'm hoping there won't be any argument, but I suppose the main thing is nobody was hurt - badly.

The Paramedic was complaining of an aching hand, probably had his thumbs inside the wheel.

Both his airbags went off, which I thought shouldn't happen with nobody in the passenger seat.

Ouch! May not look a lot of damage but it will need a good going over to see what's damaged under the skin.

Thats right, there was more chance of him being hurt than you, but i could bet my house on it you will be stiff and sore tomorrow.

Did he get breath tested?

Oh yes, definitely.

The upper and lower tailgates still operate freely, as does the fuel filler cap.

There are some marks under the chassis rail where he went underneath it, and the exhaust box is a little cosy with the body where its been pushed in.
The swinging weights are still moving freely, so nothing can be that bent, but there is some broken plastic behind the bumper.

I wasn't worried, last 'drink' I had was a single glass of wine with my Christmas dinner.

You get my point but, maybe he was breathalysed and you just didn't notice....... Or maybe he had been drinking and thats why he hit you. It's always possible.

Not the point though Nasher,
He was obviously at fault so should have been breathalysed first, if it was ordinary joe blogs bet they'd breathalyse them.

You'll get pestered with calls due to your recent accident for ages now, how they know is beyond me.
But there are folk who thrive on whiplash etc after any wee bump and get loads of cash for it. Why? Is beyond me

Good luck

Oh yes, I understand, they are only human and it was Saturday morning after a Friday night.

I expect he's done an awful lot of good things for people over the years though, so I'm happy to assume he was all legit.
