Has anyone been able to compare the quality between the genuine LR part and the visually identical copies that seem to be available on certain websites ?
I can see that some have silver coloured ABS trim whilst others have the aluminium trim which the genuine ones have.
According to some posts on here, even the genuine part tends to rust. The copies seem to be around £150 to £200 cheaper. So are there any significant differences that I should be aware of ?

I have had two sets of OEM side steps from different companies. Both were returned with in a week of receiving them. The quality IMO is not as good as genuine parts. You get what you pay for. To be honest I would rather pay the extra and purchase them from my local dealer. With a bit of haggling you can get a fair price, at least a years guarantee and if you are not satisfied you can return them to the dealer.

Mine are like the ones slimmer was selling, no problems so far had them on about 6 months, paid a simillar price too, wouldn't know if mine are rusty anyway as they are never clean. Why buy a car when you can buy a Land Rover.....because I'm worth it.

The advert says they are genuine, but I have no confirmation of this. No relation, just a happy looker hoping that they will be relisted after pay-day!!!
I had some off him last month, have no reason to believe they are not genuine (I know he could have printed the stickers himself + printed out the fitting instructions) there was a small dent in the offside one ally edging and the rear of the edging isn't quite level to the step (the N/S one is perfect) he has offered to replace it (or I could have had a set of mud flaps instead but I have them allready), but I have been away with work so am now only getting back on the case with it. I emailed him tonight about replacing it. Hope he's good to his word...... "Watch this space"

I have the aftermarket ones which look like the original ones. Easy to fit and as you say they and fully coated in foam / rubber so dont rust like the genuine ones.

You'll all be pleased to hear that the replacement arrived during the week and is now fitted, the old one is packaged ready to send back to him so now both sides are looking good.
