Maximum weight on Prospeed rack

When fitting the rack there's a panel on the instructions indicating the maximum weight is 54.3kg.

I don't have any reason to doubt it, but that seems a little low to me, when a roof tent fitted to the same mounting points would take much more than that on the same fixings.

It would very much help when giving it the Disco a wash to be able to stand on the rack to clean dead leaves off etc, but I don't want to damage the rack or mount points.

So – how much weight can you put on a Prospeed rack? Can you stand on it?

I stand on it pretty frequently, alone and with RTT mounted as it easier to secure horizontal velcro on the RTT cover. I also own three sets of ABS plastic floor from them.During recent off road gathering at the friend's private property, I had five people standing on it for a annual photo.I not saying that you should repeat what we did but it is apparently doable.I did not expected it, but peeps just went p there cause they like my Prospeed roof rack. Apologies, I may have got mixed up, it is actually the G4 rack, not the Prospeed one! But still, I think it should be able to take a similar weight.

Standing on it irrelevant, the weak point is the shear strength of the threaded fasteners that hold everything to the roof.

G4 rack rated at 75kg which is the maximum load LR state - mainly due to the changes of static to dynamic load when vehicle in motion.
That said the London to Beijing vehicles carried 4 x 20L fuel tanks (equates to roughly 80kg) & other kit.

I happily stand on my G4 rack all the time - the cross members do flex, but my G4 has the ally roof panels as well.

In reference to Robbie's point, I can confirm that I have never stood on the roof rack whilst the car was being driven.

Given average speed on m62 these days, it wouldn't be anything like as challenging as a biplane.
