From experience of working in other premium brands, gifts at handover tend to be what a customer remembers! not the fact that the car is not as specified or not ready when promised , and being british won't complain when given a gift to say thankyou. (its in the breading)
the dealer i work for never (as a rule) gives anything as a gift on handover/delivery and normaly just eneough fuel to get them home
but we are constantly number one for our service.

Well after agreement on the price of the vehicle (the DP personally worked out the total cost, with the sales guy also present, a month or so before I got the car, (lucky I wrote it all down). At handover, the same sales guy tried to stripe me up with a £1600 price hike, and the DP claimed he had mislaid his calculations. So had to be firm with them (not a good start) over this. £15 standard fuel given, oh and 2 key fobs.

15 min's for the paperwork
15 min's waiting because the car was not yet ready.
15 min's quick instruction on the controls.
just below 1/4 tank diesel.
handshake.
Had the car 2 months now - it will still be another month until Land Rover Denmark can fit in to their busty schedule to come and look at my paint flaws to decide what to do about it. (2½ hour drive each way).
Not a great experience around an otherwise great car.
Cheers
Jakob

you should have had an order form. or an invoice. its their problem now if you are driving the car of course. but yeah the whole idea of selling a car is you need commitment from both parties! witha deposit and a signed order form. it means that you know what your getting/paying and vice verca. ust seems very odd that people sell 30k+ items without any commitment from either party.
still, you got what you wanted and by the sounds of it at their loss!

still, you got what you wanted and by the sounds of it at their loss! -They did actually have a massive deposit from me,in that I handed them back a D2 td5 within the 30 day period, and yes I do agree that there may be something odd about not having an official order form. I can't say that I got what I wanted btw. I reckon after having the car just over a week, the dealer sneaked it back to their workshop and put something made by Massey Ferguson under the bonnet, or the td5 I had just given them back with some STP in, to shut it up (marginally). Basically, they had a damn good commitment from me, I trusted them,(fool) and asked them to supply me specifically with a good, new, 06MY D3, and they welched on it,and supplied me with something from the 'reject' not the 'good'compound at Gaydon. So I guess that may be why I never saw an official order form. Lesson to be learned here folks. :and you don't have to look far to find out who'they' are.
