Mickey Thompson Baja Claws on Discovery3 TDV6 HSE

I have spent the last week researching tyres for my 18 inch wheels and cannot find any mud terrain tyres that will fit. After reading this forum on 18 inch off road tyres I am pretty sure that I m going to get some aftermarket 17 inch wheels and fit some real chunky mud tyres. Because I have the 18 inch road tyres, I think that I should not compromise on a second set of off road tyres and am thinking about fitting 33.12.5R17LT Micket Thompson Baja Claws. the other option is cooper STT. I will only be using them for complete off road weekend trips.

Before I order them i just thought I should ask if anyone has ever fitted these tyres or does anyone know if they would fit properly and how they would perform on a disco3 TDV7 HSE. Your feedback would be apprciated.

Thanks, Nick

think if they fit you may have to use wheel spacers.

Hi, Nick,
As I see Cooper STT 245/70-17 would fit better. As the standard tyre size for 17" is 235/70-17. So 245/70-17 tyre is very close to normal mode.
PS. I'm thinking about AT or MT tyres too. I am looking for At tyre in 255/60-18. But in Moscow we also have no MT or AT tyre available in standard 18" size ( 255/60/18).
General Grabber - no dealer, Continental Cross Contact AT's in 255/60-18- are also not available. What else ?

regards,

Alexander

I had a look at the Baja Claws before I got the MTZs, and I honestly don't think they'll fit without rubbing heavily, especially at the back. At 838mm, they're 28mm taller than my 265/70/17 tyres, and even they rub a little. The largest I've heard of being tried is 828mm, which apparently needed substantial trimming. For an aggressive MT that has a better chance of fitting, look at the Interco SSR 265/70/17 (at http://www.intercotire.com/site34.php).

You also need to consider CV longevity when fitting aggressive over-size tyres.

But if you try it, let us know!

Cheers,

Gordon

Hallo!

I have fit 33x12,5R17 Cooper STT on Performance Whells, you must make some thinks that ich work:

1: no Rear Aircondition!
2: cut away under the rar door
3: supsesion lift the LR3 minimum 3cm
4: an the front you must also cut
5: you must remuve the plastik in the front
6: you must have a chip tuning!

Sorry for my bad english!

the 33 are realy to big for the Discovery 3

The best Wheel is the 265/70R17, i have it for winter and also one with cooper Stt, it is raly better in al reasons: Price, speed, problems, ....
