Mini Road Trip

Just did 1040 miles yesterday from Usk to Grantown-on-spey & back. For a long haul, the D3 was superb all the way there & back. Not an aches all the way up down & after. What a car!

Did the first 410 miles to Perth at 60mph all the way, mostly on cruise control & got 33.5 mpg (D3 HSE Auto) (fuel in tank rather than trip computer). On the way back did it all at 70 mph (ok, 85 mph) and the trip comp says 23.8, ouch! The planet might be a little warmer but it saved me the cost of an overnight stay on the way back. An the "A" roads from Perth north & back got 28.8 mpg. Even in V heavy rain it was solid as a rock at M way speeds.

One little question, are there no McDonalds on the Sat Nav system??? OK the food's rubbish but they are very useful for coffee fixes. There is a fast food POI but never saw it come up once.

PS 22.7 mpg on fast blast home, not too bad. Put 87 ltrs in the 82ltr tank. Note to self, must not ignore fuel light & press on. Must have had fumes left in there. Embarassed

1040 miles in a day! 600 is enough for me. Mind you, not done a journey that long in the D3 yet.

Wouldn't want to do it every day but it was quite comfortable in the D3. Only problems were bl**dy roadworks around Birmingham.
