Misfire / jerkiness cause - engine or Torque convertor?
The car is a 14 yr old D3 V6 auto which was remapped & egr's blanked before I bought it. All running brilliantly until about 6m ago, which coincidentally was just after a service.
There is now a distinct "misfire" which generally starts around 65mph. It seems to vary in severity from day to day but never goes away. The fuel consumption has also gone from 27/28 down to 24mpg.
There are 3 main theories that have been put to me:
-Local garage who did the service blame it on the engine and is convinced the egr removal is contributing to the problem.
-A friendly retired mechanic is convinced there's a small manifold leak (but no-one else supports this)
-Independent LR garage is fairly sure (but not 100%) that its a symptom of the torque convertor failing and needs to be replaced.
Nothing showing up on sensors it seems.
Any suggestions which route to go down first? I'm reluctant to shell out £2K for new torque convertor only to find the fault is still there..
Thanks!

More information needed otherwise its a guessing game which is little or no help to you.
Start with a full diagnostic check of all control modules and post the codes back on here. Preferably using GAP IID if available.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

The TC would be the last thing on my list to suspect. A dying TC or gearbox issue would manifest itself in a bunch of other ways (I think) that you would notice at various different speeds.
Sounds like a fuel/mix issue to me. I would start there, look at the fuel filter/tank, check the operation of both fuel pumps, look at the various air sensors.
But really need to get those codes read otherwise as said, it’s like stumbling around in the dark.

As above, see if you can get the codes read if any. Mismatch of the injectors?
