I've had a 200 Tdi disco as a main car/offroader which I ran from 100k when I bougt it to 275000k when I sold it.I then had a 110 which I kept for 12 months until I was able to afford the D3.
I bought it in August and have done 10k already with no problems as yet.
Like all things you can get good or bad.Personally I love the D3 and it has taken me 20 years of bloody hard work to afford one so it does get looked after, but it's my daily car after all.And willl be replaced by a D4 or the 110 replacement in 3 years time hopefully.I can't imagine driving anything other than Land Rover.
Once the warranty is up I will just take the chance and do without a warranty.Luckily my son in law is a mechanic.
The point I'm making is that whatever vehicle you have be it LR,Ford,Skoda even a Supercar you will always find someone with the same car who has a load of grief with it.
Phil.

I had a Porsche 968 - why? Because it's a great car, I could afford to run it and I wanted one. I could have got a Nissan 350 but I didn't.
I treated myself to a new IWC watch - why? Because I can afford it and I wanted one. I could have bought a Timex / Tag / Omega but didn't.
Next week I shall be picking my V6 Petrol HSE - why? All of the above. I could have bought another Pajero but knew that every time an LR3 / LR4 drove by, I would say to myself "Why didn't I get a Land Rover".
...and when my little boy grows up he will have pictures of him and Daddy in a Land Rover, camping on the beach.

I've just had a cheese salad sandwich with salad cream because I wanted one.
Oh, and I bought a packet of crisps too because I can afford it.
I didn't want to see my colleague sat at his desk eating a pack of pickled onion monster munch and be full of regret D3 incl. genuine glass windscreen, front bi-focal headlights, full width rear bumper, self levelling washer bottle contents and audible 'tick tock' indicator stalk

yes end of the discovery for me and end of almost non stop back and forth to dealer trying to sort faults.
Still have a range rover in family which has been very good - maybe just down to the fact that there are good and bad of every vehicle and i was unlucky with the disco 3.
Thanks anyway - site is a very good source of info.

There are good and bad sandwiches too, but I'm trying to move on from the crab paste, cucumber and marmalade fiasco of '83 D3 incl. genuine glass windscreen, front bi-focal headlights, full width rear bumper, self levelling washer bottle contents and audible 'tick tock' indicator stalk

If we're talking moneypits, try buying a former Scottish manse that needs "sympathetic restoration".
I've got one of those AND a D3.No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!
