Mood Lights
Last night, I noticed that the mood lighting in the rear nearside door wasn’t working. All the others were. Quite a while ago I had the door lock actuator fail on that door and had it replaced. Quite honestly I never noticed whether the mood lighting worked afterwards or not. Before I start stripping door cards etc, is there somewhere that I ought to look first please?
Thanks.

Doubt very much that it has gone. If you've had the door card off you have probably dislodged the led so that it no longer shines through the hole. Takes a minute to correct it once the doorcard is off.
Alternatively the mood lighting plug may have been disconnected and forgotten. Again simple but doorcard must be released.

Thanks jonno1. The LED is still there, so more likely to be number 2 suggestion I would think.

Good news then. You will find that the light assembly slides into it's housing and locates with a feint click.

Fixed! Just as you said jonno1. The garage had trapped the wire behind the window winding mechanism, so it wasn’t plugged in! Thanks.

Hi, hope you don’t mind me jumping on the post,, I would like to add the mood lighting and was hoping someone could tell me if the D4 car wiring is ready for the mood lighting loom to just be connected, didn’t want to remove door card just to look.2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

Hi nigel207, I assume all wiring is pretty much the same on D4 and it would be just a case of adding this harness but thought instead of creating new thread I’d just add to yours (hopefully u don’t mind) and see if other members might have idea. I could remove door card/panel to see if plug is there but didn’t really want to without having parts to install..

I’m pretty certain that the plugs will be there on your SE Tech as they were on my MY14 XS.
The looms (4) cost around £40 or thereabouts from Dan at Duckworths.
From memory the grey plug sits just below the doorhandle cutout and has a dummy in it which you will need to remove and discard.
The loom follows a logical route and tucks onto various clips that are using other wires.
The leds locate into holders with a little click and throw a triangular beam in the doorhandle recess if they are installed correctly.
Not a difficult job, took a bit more than an hour without rushing and I did not detach the doorcards completely but supported them underneath.
Don’t forget to disconnect and remove the puddle lights on the underside of the cards and to make sure that the wires remain accessible for remounting. Enabling is not required.
Last but most importantly avoid distractions until the job is done.
Hope this lot is of some help.
