MOT, EGR, K&N and chips

Over the last few months there has been some discussion about the impact of various things we do to our D3s on their ability to pass the MOT.
Mine has been chipped, had the EGRs blanked (and the butterfly disabled fully open), a K&N filter installed. And a few days ago the MOT man cast his eye over it.

First thing he said on giving it back was "It goes better than most we've done, none of that hesitation, what have you done to it?" So I said "Not a lot, has it passed?". "Oh yes, no problems at all, nicely in on emissions, not that any give us problems unless they are too cold, so I warmed it up before testing (he'd picked it up from me at work when he dropped off someone elses car from its MOT, and I walked round later to pick it up), now tell me what you've done, its so snappy" "Well its been chipped, and got a K&N filter". He wass hppy at that, and handed me the bill......

Its a long time since a car I've owned has gone through its MOT so smootly Very Happy Very Happy

So don't worry too much about blanking the EGRs if you are chipped and the garage warms them up properly before doing the test.

Thanks for that one Rob.

Mine is being Tuned next week and EGR plates still to be fitted. Was Slightly hesitant before, but now there is nothing stopping me. Still to buy the K&N, maybe at the weekend.

Cheers

I did the EGR on my old TD5, the emissions dropped well down on the years before. That had a TD5 alive ECU and Hiclones (dont ask), but it was a rocket ship.

So I agree, EGR blanking and tuning if done properly will enable the motor to fly through mot on emissions.

Mine passed its MoT last week, Tuned, EGRs blanked and butterfly removed. ITG filter.
 Cheers
