MOT Opacity Fail - Catalytic Converter

Hi all,

My 2008 D3 has failed it's MOT on emissions with the opacity at 2.3 instead of 1.5.

I found a clogged EGR valve on Bank 0 and replaced it.

But does the Cat have anything to do with MOT emissions/opacity fail??

How many years does that last before it needs replacing?
