Hi Guys,
It's MOT time. In spite of searching the forum I can't find anything about how the brakes should be tested. I get the impression that they should use the Tapley meter for the foot brake, not rollers, but how should the handbrake be done? Doing a road test will do the emergency stop trick won't it? Doesn't that only put the handbrake on when you have stopped or nearly so?

just had mot done. used emergency stop figure from tap meter. no other way of doing it. mot man put 65% cos the real reading was too high for a hand brake.

Kwiq fit did mine for 35 quid pass first time no problems. Tested the car on the road using a special metre and not the roller. Don't be blinkered vision, see the world in colour.

I think the park brake effeciency is measured using the park brake bedding in mode.

I have to agree the handbrake and normal brakes are tested using an accelerometer which is placed on centre console and this measures the braking force as a %.
Of course this is also done using the bedding in procedure for the EPB.
Cheers
