Does that mean the engine covers, top & bottom will be removed during inspection? Excuse my ignorance but I don’t have a dpf on mine so don’t know where it is Embarassed
Do I need to put egr pipework back where it should be???

We just don’t know at this stage, but I’ll be following the saga with interest.

Considering that the exhaust gases haven been analysed at the mot for years, I don’t know why it’s, so far, not been possible to check the proper functioning of the EGR valves and the DPF via a similar test.

Most likely a visual, ah yes found it that’s definitely a Diesel engine, now where’s the DPF and EGR thingy, yep found it ! that looks like it there, now you mustn’t remove this when you get home or you’ll get a smack, now I need to connect the Exhast Gas Analyser (with upgraded emissions control software), who did you say designed this? Ah that’s right an ex VW engineer, there you go all passed, here’s your MOT sir

Just a bit of humour to lighten up Mr. Green

The exhaust gasses haven't been analysed, that's the issue

Currently, as long as there is an acceptable level of smoke, a diesel will pass its "emissions" test

I don't see EGR's being included, but I can see cat/DPF efficiency being tested...
