Exactly, curiosity was getting the better of me! Since that last fill up i've done 110 miles and the computer still shows I have 475 left in the tank! To me the consumption is pretty good as it's in-between my 60mpg bmw and about 18mpg Porsche 968!

Try 13-14....city/highway. Our gallon is different, but it's still low mileage...
I get 19 on the highway... 17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca

I've just got the Fuel Calc app but thinking of getting a different one, didn't realise it averages out the mpg for each fill up so doesn't tell you av. mpg for each tank (although easy to work out).
It has however made me think the Disco may have a drink problem. The app is considerably less than the dash is leading me to believe.
Dash said 29mpg - (Approx 160 miles cruising 70-80mph, then average driving for rest of tank but no town driving.)
App said 24.1mpg - I double checked the maths and the app was correct and YES, I did reset the trip computer when I filled up.
Bit worried now.
Last tank was mainly towing, a few start stops with a 1t trailer, trip said 26ish mpg, App said 20.9mpg - App was right!!

Disco 4 2012 economy bit of a con
I have an average of 36.5 mpg for the new sdv6 8 speed zf disco 4, 2012....... Sounds good but the mileage for the money did not seem correct so i checked two tanks for litres to mileage. Reality is 29 mpg, not 36.5 as i thought. I know fuel computers can be a bit out, but 7mpg is miseading and makes you wonder if LR is deliberatly setting the computer. All I do is motorway miles, ploddin at 65- 70 mph listening to ultimate 80's on the DAB.
Thought i ad dropped on with a nice motor, nice consumption but feel a bit cheated now. Wish i ant checkd!
Top truck thou, smooth box with paddles when you need to crack on. very little engine and road noise and cant resist pumpin her up to get a bit of bird watchin done while in traffic!

Glad its not just me, but think mine is worse than usual....? Agree, why do they make the trip give an optimistic reading??
Have you tried a tankful using just auto and then another tankful using just paddle shift?
Would be interested to know the difference in readiness for mine in April.11 RR 4.4 TDV8

Your remap will be making the trip computer further out than it would normally be I would say with a standard car 10% inacuracy would be about the max that should be acceptable just like your speedo will over read
But a remap will put more fuel in at all throttle openings than the dash computer knows about as this won't have been remapped leading to wildly inaccurate figures

Hmmm, interesting Pinhead - never heard that suggested before. When I first had the remap done the mpg increased by about 2mpg (trip figure) then had BFG's fitted and knocked it back by 2mpg.
Why do you suggest assmageden's actual is so far out from his trip on new D4?11 RR 4.4 TDV8

Fuel consumption disco 4, 2012
I have owned the car since 25th november, covering around 3500 k. Previously owned a freelander 2 sport 190 bhp which averaged 32 mpg on the clock, but i would get around 460 miles to a full tank. The disco shows 36.5 but i get around 470 miles to the tank but it holds alot more hence me checking cos the numbers i see on the mpg calc did not add up.
I would like to have landrover either check or recalibrate the mpg counter as it is next to useless at the minute. Makes me wonder if the miles clock is true as well.
Is it a calibration thing? I really dont want to have deal with stratstones if i can help it!

It is possibly a calibration issue but I am not sure if anything can be done ask the faultmate guys on here
I had a van that I ran till out of warranty then got it remapped it was always a little optimistic about fuel use but never more than 10% out after remapping was about 25% out the actual fuel use was about the same but the computer stated much better mpg
