I have owned the car since 25th november, covering around 3500 k. Previously owned a freelander 2 sport 190 bhp which averaged 32 mpg on the clock, but i would get around 460 miles to a full tank. The disco shows 36.5 but i get around 470 miles to the tank but it holds alot more hence me checking cos the numbers i see on the mpg calc did not add up.

I would like to have landrover either check or recalibrate the mpg counter as it is next to useless at the minute. Makes me wonder if the miles clock is true as well.

Is it a calibration thing? I really dont want to have deal with stratstones if i can help it!

My trip comp is about 10% out - but the speedo is pretty much bang on compared to GPS - as is the mileage trip - which is to the 1/10 - so it has to be the way the fuel metering is calculated.

That app, as far as I can see is a US app.

A US gallon is 3.78 Litres while a UK gallon is 4.546 Litres so quite different.

I use road trip - this is a screen shot from a while ago. It shops the average for each fill up. I am now up to 25.6 mpg average over 10k.

It is set to imp gallons. On motorway runs I get 30 mpg (at 70 mph)

My car TC (always re set) consistently reads up to 2 mpg less than actual as worked out by road trip. Am I the only person who has a pessimistic TC?? Confused

Similar to what I've been getting over 88k. I love it when peeps think these cars are economical. If you want economical, buy a 520d Touring & double it. Like I did. Smile

I'm recording via phone app:

Urban - 27 (trip Comp 30 -31)
Combined - 31.6 (Trip Comp 34)

This sticking mainly to the speed limits and my usual driving technique!

More than happy with that 8) Mine is an 07 Auto and the only way to improve on that is to have some manual control of the auto box like Volvo or Scanny Trucks.

Put two tank full through now and used the Command Mode throughout, getting into the highest gear possible and staying there as long as possible, as far as I can tell using the Blackberry phone App and a bit of old fashioned arithmatic I believe i am getting:

Urban - 28.6
Combined - 33

Not terribly scientific but a good indicator that I am getting what I should expect, I'm happy Thumbs Up

37.6? That's a figure I can only dream of in my aging D3.
I was impressed with 25mpg when we went on holiday to Norfolk last month. 6 people (me and the missus, 3 of my kids, 20-17 and my daughters boyfriend) 2 large dogs, full roof box and a small trailer with all our other bits in.
