How much for an aftermarket tow bar? |
|
I am looking to buy a seven year old D4 and all of those on sale in my vicinity do not have tow bars. SWMBO insists that if we have to have another of these gas guzzling wastes of money (I think she misses the point) it must be able to pull something.
What cost should I factor into my purchase to get one installed after the event please?

Hi Edwinl,
you didn't make it clear what you want to be towing?
Something light in use and weight you'd be fine with a detachable bar - buy for around the £150 mark (probably a couple for sale right now on here). Electrics anything from £30 to £150 and can be fitted yourself (though coding update required for full experience).
Anything more heavy duty and you'll need a fixed bar which *I think* are more expensive
Hope this helps Stolen - D4 Loire Blue

You might find that the electrics have already been enabled - worth checking before you spend any money on getting it done. 2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
2012 - FL2 2009 GS Stornoway Grey
2001 - VW Passat Estate Inky Blue
1999 - Ford Mondeo Light Blue
1998 - Rover 25 Red

if you go down the "detachable" route, there are also anti-theft plates for those … think one was on here recently.
There's also a safety check that needs to be done on the detachables … not 100% sure of details but I'm sure someone will add them here soon.
