How much discount is possible from main dealer on a used D4

In the market for an early 8 speed used D4.

There is a fair old premium over private sale prices using a LR main dealer, I know they provide a warranty but just wondered when push comes to shove how much they will drop.

I'm wondering if getting 10%+ off the advertised price is possible? Any real experiences gratefully received.

Having seen the bad press on here about the approved used warranty, is it necessarily worth the premium of going to a LR dealer? Why not look elsewhere and buy your own warranty from the likes of warranty direct? An early 8 speed is over 5 years old now, I really would look elsewhere.

My 2012 ended up at an Evans Halshaw Kia garage in Reading area somewhere, it had full service history, no problems, but I got more through Evans Halshaw than for part exchange.

They will move as much as the deal allows, I bought a HSE eighteen months ago where I was getting 5k off the screen price, turned out to be a bit of a dog, they had another, same spec and three months older but would not budge on the screen price which was 1k more than the screen price of the one I had bought.
In the end a very favourable deal for me was done on the Landmark I have now.

Don't expect anything off from shatstones. And don't expect the 165 point check to mean didley. If you want a copy of the approved used standards let me know.
I'm thinking of small claims as my next move as all other avenues have been exhausted with my tyre issues.

Mmmm, Just been reading about the crank failures and the useless LR approved warranty. Seems buying privately or even at an auction may be the way to go in that case. I'm not keen about a potential £18K engine replacement which also makes me wonder if I should just stick with the FL2.

If you took some of stories written on here at anything near face value, you’d be forgiven for thinking that every single D4 in the world had a broken crankshaft. It’s no wonder that you’re concerned and I wouldn’t blame you for being turned off.

That would be a shame, it’s a great car and the quality information on here (as on most Forums) needs to be filtered from the unhelpful and the grossly exaggerated.

All I'd say is that if you are looking at the approved LR site, the prices can vary wildly between dealers & regions.

I bought mine about 11 months ago, and as always with my cars, I was prepared to travel - I'm prepared to go around the country to save a few quid. I ended up getting a £1.5k discount on a vehicle from Hunters in Chester, but the price was much cheaper than anything I could get down south (and the dealer knew that)

And I thought the prep was excellent... car had 16k miles on it, but when I picked it up it was as good as new

Getting “10% off” an Approved used car is highly unlikely, unless if was grossly over priced by the dealer in the first place. Obviously, you can make any offer that you like and it might even be accepted but, for budgetary purposes, something between 2 and 4% might be more realistic.

This is based on my personal experience of many negotiations that have resulted in the purchase of 3 Approved LR’s since 2014. My nearest dealer wouldn’t budge an inch on anything, not even at at asking price just short of £90,000. I walked away.

I find them all priced to sell not many over inflated prices nowadays, if they are not attractively priced people won’t enquire about buying. Days of getting hundreds or thousands off is over I feel.
