As above, or just push down on the corner that doesn't catch, my near side catch needs a bit of persuasion sometimes.

Have a similar problem on a disco 3 I just bought.
One side 'released' whilst driving.
It does close and latches on both sides, just on one side it doesnt seem to be able to sustain whilst driving.
Any other tips appreciated?
Thanks

You need to file the lower edge of the D loop.
This thread explains it all : http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic112219.htmlMods:

Cheers Narpy
Read that there - doesnt sound like the exact same problem I am having.
For me, the bonnet shuts fine, and latches on both side without problem (whether with a light shut, or a forceful one).
The problem is that during driving at relative speed, one of the latches seems to unlatch...
So it doesnt appear to me that solution posted would fix that unfortunately - although I could be wrong
Thanks for the input either way!

It's exactly the same problem.
One catch appears down but it isn't and comes undone when driving. Slam the bonnet, it'll look down and locked. Then try pulling the bonnet up at the place ( usually the nearside ) where it keeps coming undone and you'll see exactly what I mean.
Believe me, you're not suffering anything that isn't already known, 99.99% of issues are known and recognised and are well documented on the forum.
The D loop bottoms out and needs filing, it's a simple enough fix.Mods:

I've just picked my D3 up today and well chuffed with it, but am experiencing the nearside bonnet catch issue.
I can get both sides locked down after a bit of persuasion and when I give the offside catch a wiggle there is no movement at all, but wiggling the nearside there is a bit of play and if I pull hard enough the catch can pop open.
Will the file method work me, and do I file the bottom bar on the outside of the U or the inside?

The info you require is already in this thread.
Please re-read it and click the link I have already posted, all the answer are there.
But as you missed it, you need to file the bottom outer edge of the D loop.
There's pictures detailing this in the link above.
You'll be fine.Mods:

It may also be the rubber stopper on the bonnet itself that needs adjusting, mine has a thread cut into the rubber and is simply turned to adjust. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for the clarification.
Surely I can be forgiven for checking before taking hand tools to a new (to me) car for adjustments??

Absolutely.
The thing with these cars ( and any Land Rover tbh ) they are very hands on unless you have endless amounts of cash to throw at them.
One of the members on here has a signature that says something similar to " Land Rover, turning motorists into mechanics since the 1940's" or something very similar, and it's very apt for D3 ownership.Mods:

I spent an hour the other week sorting out the catches on mine when the bonnet wouldn't shut.
Narpy - I think that's Robbie's signature and it is so true and always makes me chuckle.Andy
