Mud Flaps ?

I'm at work so I get to pootle about in the new D4 !

Only downside is I have to keep it clean, and with all this rain mud muck etc I was wondering about fitting mud flaps ?

Baring in mind I'm about as handy with a spanner as I am calibrating the Higgs Bosun machine Embarassed What's involved ?
It's more expensive to fit them that it is to buy ? 1:5hrs labour @ £110 per hour + VAT !

I'm pretty sure I can offer a moulded part up to another bit and ram some screws in but if it involves taking trim off and cutting back with a Stanley knife then I reckon it's off to the dealers ?

Any one done this ?

Thanks

It is an easy job, fronts remove three screws from memory, offer up mudflaps and refit three screws, 10 minutes to do both.
Rears a little mre difficult as there is a little right had bracket to fit to give additional support, but once you figure out where this goes, again very easy and quick to do. Rears also need a small right angled screw driver or 1/4 drive rachet and screw driver bit as there is very little room between tyre and arch to get a screw driver into. Alternativley if you remove the wheel it gives masses or room.
No cutting or removal of trim required.
the LR mudfalps do make a diffrence but others have used series 2 flexible mudflaps from memory and these seem to offer more protection. Thumbs Up

Mud flaps are well worth having - they do make a difference.
Just to add to Russell's comments:
* Front ones are dead easy to do.
* The fitting instructions (pictures) for the rear aren't too great. For one screw, there is a small square hole (a few mm2) you need to find to tighten things up (that's for the "little right hand bracket to fit to give additional support" which Russell talks about). You need to go under and to the back of the wheel arch to find it. Find it and you'll save a load of time (I didn't stratight away and spent about an hour looking Embarassed )
* I binned the screws for fitting through the small square hole and bracket (but I kept the ones for the rest of the rear). I found using longer ones made it easier to fit and better in tightening up everything.
* Stubby ratchet screwdriver and the rears can be fitted - even with my fat fingers.

Just make sure you get the right mud flaps........ Discovery 4's that come with the unpainted bumpers and wheel arch trims (such as mine) - such as the base Commercial for example, still use the older Discovery 3 mud flap kit, something my supplying dealer didn't realise when I ordered my car back at the start of D4 production!

Do you mean thehigh beam assist, if so then yes I have. Had it on both D4's first worked most of the time this one seems much more sensative.

Hi
I got some of eBay for around £30 quid. They're great and you can't tell apart from the real thing apart from the fact that they have a "Rand Rover" symbol.
Other than that they are indistuinguishable from the real thing .
