Ok, so the towbar electrics went in ok, but I am struggling like mad with the multiheight tow bar.
I have got one of the arms tightened to the chassis perfectly well having taken the bolt out of the other side something seems to have gone out of alignment and I can not get the bolt back into the chassis even without bothering to include the towbar arm. The bolt hole in the black chassis case is not aligned with the silver block inside the chassis that has the thread in it.
Has anyone else had any problems with this?
Any advice of how to get the bolt back in?
I am very worried that I am going to end up damaging the thread if I force the bolt in!
Many Thanks,
SiSi

It can be a devil of a job. You need to loosen off the retaining nut on the other side. If there's a second pair of hands available, you can lift the whole assembly until it lines up. I seem to recall there was a lot of heavy-duty waggling involved! Somewhere in the archive, there's a whole thread on this. Good luck...
Scroll down a bit & you'll see a couple of posts about the very problem being discussed here, along with a step by step solution.

Just about to fit mine - but I can't even turn the green locking handle. Is there a knack to this? Key turns just past 90 degrees, and handle pops out slightly, but it won't turn.Disco 5 HSE Lux

DiscoStu - I thought you had bought the removable towbar? if so it should just slide straight into its mount. To turn the green locking handle (you only need to do this when you remove it) I believe that you have to pull the green lever outwards first - can't check at moment as my cars in the bodyshop until Wednesday having the passenger door resprayed again - when they did it first time round they got a lot of dirt in the paint 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

I bought the multiheight towbar first, then needed electrics. Then came across the removable bar + electrics for less than electrics normally cost, so bought them! A removable bar might be for sale shortly
