MY12 D4-HSE poor heater performance below 3 degrees C

Hi,

Now that we're getting cold weather I've noticed the heater is struggling to deliver hot air. The engine temp gauge is normal and comes up normally and the FBH works as it should.

Never noticed this on my MY06 D3

It struggles most when cruising on motorway or above about 60mph. When you slow up or stop at a junction the heat improves.

Water system is filled to correct level

Do I need a Series two "Muff" for this one !!!

Are you sure that your FBH is working correctly ?

IIRC it doesn't fire up is your fuel level is below a certain level.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the fuel type only goes down to the quarter point in your fuel tank Thumbs Up

FBH is working perfectly.

I haven't checked the thermostat yet because the engine appears to warmup normally and hold the normal temp as usual.

I wanted to get the feedback form the forum to see if weak heating is a common concern or there's a common failing component like the thermostat or other bits of this complex plumbing system before pulling things apart.

Don't trust the dash temp gauge. Either use a diagnostic tool or an IR thermometer on the pipes and radiator.
