MY13 broken into!
Hi all - car was parked outside the house 2 nights ago. Defo locked as I checked before I went up to bed.
Key was out of range. Woke up in the morning and car had been broken into. No alarm, no broken windows. They managed to disable the alarm and get into the car.
Any idea how?
This used to happen a lot to my previous car (Audi) my brothers car (vw) and my dads car (bentley)in the same area. Thought it might have been a way around the vw group alarm.
But less than 1 month old LR broken into the same way
Any help/advice/insight is most appreciated to stop this happening in future

I suppose - how do they do that? Also all the cars were in about 2 miles if each other. Would be hard to clone all if them. Is there a generic device maybe that could do it?
Can I lock the car any other way to prevent this?

I always use the door handle lock buttons as I walk away rather than the key fob When you say you checked it .....were your mirrors folded ?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

So as nothing was "broken" as such have your insurers accepted that access was gained by other means then ? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Did a woman give you a note about damaging it recently?

I know this is not very helpful but with what your saying I would be looking to build a garage, remind me not to park anywhere near primrose hill.

At least if she did ...it doesn't appear to have worked fully21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

its likely that your car's signal was intercepted some time before, hours or even days before then they have followed you home or found your address from DVLA records/HPI. With right equipment they can do this yards away from you and mingle in a crowd/street scene.
Given that these cars are being knicked to order for foreign countries/customers, a question has to be asked....have you reported the incident to plod....whilst it might not have been taken that night could be down to being disturbed by passing traffic/pedestrian (aka local resident taking his dog out for a late walk etc), if CID/tin hats start to see a pattern of similar incidence of "nothing taken vehicle break in" then it might aid the authorities in stepping up patrols locally or identifying a pattern within your local area.
Could also be that they gained entry in order to plug in to the cars ecu in readiness to cloan a key - clearly very professional with all the right kit
In the meantime, I will pm you separately a way to disable your vehicle using a simple method

but yer car still needs the ability to use the battery when asleep for the passive alarm, levelling the suspension etc......my idea does not cost anything and is pretty full proof for even a non tech person, but no about to post on an open forum
