I also noticed that the car DRLs don't come on on start up but after a gear is selected, then they stay on even in park or neutral until the engine is turned off

I know this Paul, remember the fun we both had when we found that when the rears deactivate on the MY13 and RRS, so do the fronts

According to the book we don't tend to read, they stay off at start up until you select D/R, then stay on.

So as confirmed by Dexter the very last Landmarks have different DRL functionality. The rear lights also come on with the front DRLs. I've just seen another 16 plate Landmark with front DRLs on and rear tail lights also on.
I wonder why they changed it?

Maybe on DS, it isn't a MY16 thing on the D4 though as mine isn't like this. It seems to be a last of the line Landmark thing.

But only when towing on mine, with no trailer plug attached it's front only.

All seems very bizarre, got to be some software thing going on. Wonder if they are doing something with towing electrics programming to detect trailer and always put rear lights on to create a load for something? LED trailer Lights? Blown Bulb Detection? No idea really
Doesn't answer why yours are off and mine are on when not towing. Thinking aloud, I have my lights on Auto all the time do you? MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Yes agreed, your scenario is very odd indeed. I was just making the point though that a change in functionality has been made, regardless of towing electrics, on the last models.

Get what you mean, as I travel around I'm looking at vans being towed if it has tail lights on and making a mental note of which model if it's a Disco and if they are DRL's are on, so far seen three, all towing with tail lights and DRL's and all Landmarks.
