Nanocom for D4

Hello all

First off, I know a IID BT tool is the interface of choice for everyone on here.
I know that already, I might even buy one, you never know.
Although I’d also need to buy a more modern phone, an Ipod, or laptop as well so I can talk to it.

But, I already have a Nanocom Evolution for my D3 that as well as fault code reading and clearing has done everything I’ve ever needed it to do, including stuff like setting up the FBH, resetting the EPB, putting the suspension in Tight Tolerance mode, resetting the steering angle sensor etc etc.
Plus I actually find it quite easy and intuitive to use.

So, if I buy a Nanocom licence for the 2015/16 D4 I’m planning, am I going to be able to do everything I’ve done to the D3?
Or are there functions that are not available on the Nanocom for the D4 that were available on the D3.

And I suppose I should ask, ignoring the look of the interface, what will a IID tool do on the D4 that a Nanocom won’t?

Obviously I’m looking at a big difference in the cost of a Nanocom Licence compared to setting up from scratch on an IID.

Thanks

Nasher.

The only thing I would check is whether the Nanocom covers the later years on the D4, it's a while since I got rid of mine and I'm sure there was something about coverage after MY2014 but as I say you would need to check. If you already have the Nanocom and it works on those years it would be daft to go out and buy another one, it reads and resets fault codes and can reprogramme CCF files so should be all good Thumbs Up

Think of the resale value of adding another licence to your Nanocom.

I had the Nano for my Discovery TD5 and then bought a P38 project, I looked at buying an unlock code to add to existing reader but what stopped me was the price of the unlock code and also would I ever get much back on resale. I went for another Nanocom for the P38 on a group buy.
When I sold the motors I get a fair chunk of both back. Had I plumped for the unlock code I would have just had to sell it for less than the price of one as there's not many fol out there with both motors.

Seems Nanocom only covers up to 2015 D4's

Steep price for the unlock code as well

Wow, thanks Searider, I was sure it was @£60 for the additional code.

In that case it makes sense to look more closely at a IID BT.
Although as mentioned I'll need to look at what I Bluetooth it to as well.
My old LG smartphone is a bit out of date, I don't own an Ipad, and I'm really restricted to what Software I can add to my work laptop.

You might find your phone works - there's a thread here from when I had issues which details the requirements: https://disco3.co.uk/forum/sold-discovery-...47978.html
