Yes, over the internet from Navteq seems the best option. I was kindly contacted by a chap who is selling one on a local auction site but at twice the Navteq price I think I'll decline.

from the navteq it costs 269 € + 27€ for shipment including dutch VAT (complicated and not worth the hassle to deduct).
from the dealer it costs 301€ exclusive VAT

It seems they calculated it very well....

I'll order on-line from Navteq and have it shipped to my Belgian sister company: 269€ +7,5€ shipment

It is a set of 2 dvd's

Dear NHR,

would you be so kind to take a similar picture of exactly the same location as rino posted before, but with the new disc, to check if the coverage in the czech rep. has improved at least a bit?

I'll try to do that, certainly. It may take me a day or so to learn how to operate the thing but Smetanovo Namesti, Pardubice will be in my sights!

Dear Captain Sugar

I looked at this over the weekend. The map for the address you gave me is exactly the same as the photo posted above so I haven't posted a new photo. Sorry if that is dispappointing.

Playing around with it in Warsaw it seems to work well. I have longer trip in a couple of weeks so we'll see what the rural coverage is like. Not having had a sat nav before I am quite impressed as is SWMBO and, of course, our two boys find the voice telling me where to drive very amusing.

thanks NHR,

No surprise, no disappointment. I expected this result, just hoping.....

Now here's an image of the data that Navteq has ready available:

Same street, same city +/- same scale. Same data supplier.
Quite a difference, isn't it?

Trying to find out why the data on the LR disk is so different from what they have on the map reporter site leads to standard answers "it generally takes six to nine months for the data to become available in cars".
At least they can't answer "we are continually working to improve coverage"...

Frustrating.

I will not sponsor such a company by buying a DVD that has not got the coverage they already dispose of!
